During the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year, demand for air travel is forecast to increase sharply. According to the plan approved by the Civil Aviation Authority, domestic airlines will operate more than 7,500 domestic flights during this peak period, an average of about 685 flights per day.
Compared to normal days, the number of flights increased by more than 24%, the number of seats provided increased by about 20%.
Flights to and from Ho Chi Minh City still account for the largest proportion, with an average of more than 460 flights per day. Particularly for the route connecting Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamese airlines plan to operate 1,261 flights, providing 305,000 seats.
During the peak summer period of 2025 (from May 15 to August 15), on domestic routes, airlines plan to operate 68,558 flights (an average of 745 flights/day).
Flights to and from tourist destinations (Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Quy Nhon) are operated by airlines with more than 20,000 flights, accounting for 30% of the total number of flights; providing nearly 4.1 million seats.
Thus, domestic airlines have proactively prepared resources, added aircraft and developed plans to increase flights to better serve during the peak holiday season.
In addition, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is also actively implementing related contents, coordinating with the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and Vietnamese airlines to prepare for the operation of Passenger Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport during the April 30 - May 1 holiday.
