DNVN - At the workshop "Solutions for human resource development for the wave of microchip investment in Vietnam", representatives of units operating in the semiconductor sector stated that Vietnam has two strengths to participate in this industry, which are design and packaging.
Recently, BTEC FPT British College organized a workshop on “Human resource development solutions for the wave of microchip investment in Vietnam”, attracting the attention of many experts and businesses in the industry.
At the workshop, experts and representatives of participating units contributed multi-dimensional perspectives, as well as shared about the training roadmap and the need to develop the semiconductor technology industry in the face of the wave of investment in Vietnam's microchips that is gradually becoming stronger.
Representatives of units operating in the semiconductor sector commented that Vietnam has two strengths to participate in this industry, which are design and packaging. In the design sector, a lot of human resources are needed to directly attract FDI enterprises moving into Vietnam. When the semiconductor industry develops to a certain threshold, Vietnam is forced to train more human resources and professional engineers to position the country's strengths in the semiconductor value chain ecosystem.
Experts discuss at the workshop.
“To develop this field, training units need to develop the school and business ecosystem. It can be said that the connection between training units and businesses plays an important role in the process of updating new training programs, as well as helping students have the opportunity to intern and practice so that they are not surprised when starting work,” said Mr. Nguyen Phuc Vinh - Member of the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Semiconductor Technology Association.
Mr. Vu Chi Thanh, Principal of FPT Polytechnic College, said that in order to fully exploit the potential that Vietnam has, it is necessary to focus on developing quality human resources to prepare for the new wave of microchip investment. “As the first college to train in semiconductor technology, BTEC FPT has been striving to lead the trend of training and developing human resources in a field that is considered the “backbone” of the technology era,” Mr. Thanh said.
To rapidly increase the quantity and quality of semiconductor human resources, experts say: The State needs to have specific policies and regulations to encourage businesses to invest in research and development of semiconductor manufacturing facilities. In addition, semiconductor training units need to promote cooperation with international businesses and corporations operating in the semiconductor field to help training and research activities in the semiconductor technology field update new technologies and build training programs that are closest to reality.
Besides the seminar discussing solutions for developing high-quality human resources with the wave of foreign investment in the semiconductor industry, the event also included the admission ceremony of BTEC FPT as a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Semiconductor Technology Association.
The association was established in 2013, is an association that brings together experts and prestigious enterprises in the field of semiconductors and has the ability to connect the state with scientists, domestic and foreign enterprises in the field of semiconductor microchip technology. This opens up opportunities for BTEC FPT to cooperate with organizations operating in the fields of research, training, dissemination, application, production, business, and semiconductor microchip services in Ho Chi Minh City, to help each other in training, research, exchange of experiences, and improve professional knowledge in the semiconductor microchip industry, contributing to the goal of developing science and technology.
This is an effort to ensure the development of human resources in the semiconductor industry of the city in particular and Vietnam in general, as well as initially opening up opportunities for semiconductor technology students of BTEC FPT to study and work in the future.
Not only implementing and promoting in-depth cooperation with technology corporations and training units operating in the field of semiconductor technology in the country, BTEC FPT also continuously implements and signs agreements to develop training programs; internships with partners from leading countries in the field of semiconductor chip manufacturing in the world, in order to open up work and internship opportunities in Korea and most recently Taiwan.
BTEC FPT held a signing ceremony for cooperation in human resource training with Liteon and Mayo, two large enterprises from Taiwan, to expand employment, internship, and transfer study opportunities for students studying in the semiconductor technology industry. Liteon will place orders for high-quality human resource training from BTEC FPT, in return Liteon will sponsor scholarship programs for excellent students to study and work in Taiwan, expanding opportunities for self-development and experience of the international working environment. In addition, Liteon also committed to giving priority to students from BTEC FPT to apply for internships and work in manufacturing plants.
