Fishing boat TH 93586 TS, captained by Mr. Bui Van Tuan (permanent resident of Ngu Loc commune, Hau Loc district, Thanh Hoa province) and 8 crew members, was fishing with a cast net. At 10:00 a.m. on February 25, while fishing in the area 8 nautical miles west of Truong Sa island, the winch system broke down. The fishing boat contacted the Truong Sa island Logistics - Technical Service Center for instructions on entering the Truong Sa island dock for repairs.
When the fishing boat entered the port, the Center sent technical staff down to the boat to disassemble the winch system for inspection. Upon inspection, the boat's winch system was broken and the gears were chipped. The Center's staff disassembled the winch system and brought it back to the workshop to weld and grind the winch gear system.
During the repair period, the Center's staff combined propaganda of Prime Minister's Directive 45/CT-TTg; introduced the activities of the ports and fishing villages in Truong Sa archipelago and presented national flags, personal life jackets, and 2,000 liters of fresh water to fishing boats.
By 8:00 a.m. on February 26, the boat had been successfully repaired, assembled, and tested for normal operation so that the fishing boat could leave the port and continue fishing.
These are regular activities of the ports and fishing villages managed by Squadron 129 in Truong Sa archipelago to implement the program "Vietnam Navy as a support for fishermen to go offshore".
Just counting the occasion of the Lunar New Year of At Ty up to now, the ports and fishing villages have repaired and fixed the damage to 2 fishing boats BD 9881 TS and KH 94484 TS, donated 40 national flags, 40 personal life jackets, 120 kg of green vegetables and other necessities and medicines to fishermen fishing far from shore.
