He is the author and co-author of three ISI/Scopus indexed articles, two scientific articles in IEEE journals, and four articles published in international conferences.

Tan's scientific works aim to study the ability of Glucose molar absorption relative to sugar concentration at wavelengths of 1300 nm and 1550 nm to develop a non-invasive blood glucose monitoring device. The research is published in the IEEE journal of Biomedical Engineering, Healthcare and Sustainability in 2022.

Tan is also the main author of the study on optimizing near-infrared wavelengths for optical-based fruit quality assessment using Monte Carlo simulation. The work was published in the proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering in Vietnam in 2023.
