The US House of Representatives will postpone all votes until next week, after a series of conservative objections paralyzed Republican efforts to advance its agenda, Reuters reported.

Specifically, the impasse arose after the ultra-conservative Republican Freedom Caucus sided with Democrats to block two bills and prevent the federal government from issuing new regulations.

US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy speaks in New York on April 17.

The House Freedom Caucus has been upset about the bipartisan debt ceiling bill that McCarthy negotiated with President Joe Biden, saying McCarthy has reneged on a promise he made in January while running for president to reduce spending to fiscal 2022 levels.

Days of closed-door talks have failed to produce a resolution, but Mr McCarthy said he was confident they would resolve their differences. He said on June 7 that the votes would be re-taken on June 12.

Earlier, on June 6, 11 conservative Republicans unexpectedly teamed up with Democrats to vote irregularly on a series of Republican bills, according to NBC News. If the situation continues and no votes are successful, none of the Republican bills will be able to pass.
