The Ministry of Health supervises measles prevention and control work in Ha Tinh.

As the locality with the largest number of cases, with over 221 cases, Ky Anh Town Medical Center has strongly implemented solutions to prevent and control measles. When outbreaks appeared, under the direction of the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control, the Town Medical Center, and medical stations quickly implemented solutions to isolate and quarantine to prevent the spread, and increased staff for communes and wards with outbreaks to carry out monitoring, early detection of cases, and timely isolation and treatment.

Doctor Vo Van Phong - Director of Ky Anh Town Medical Center said: "In addition to proactively isolating and suppressing the epidemic, the most important solution is to increase vaccine coverage. The stations have closely coordinated with schools to organize vaccinations for school-age children; coordinated with the Party Committees and authorities of wards and communes to organize screenings to vaccinate children who have not been vaccinated or have not received enough doses. The vaccination rate of the town through the two campaigns has always been above 90%".

With the synchronous implementation of prevention and control solutions, from March 20, 2025 to now, there have been no new measles cases recorded in Ky Anh town. Previous outbreaks have been completely contained and controlled.

Not only Ky Anh town, but also many other localities have been controlled for measles. Since the beginning of the year, the whole province has recorded 624 cases, scattered in many localities. In January and February, Ha Tinh recorded a sharp increase in measles cases with 240 and 259 cases respectively. In March, the number of cases tended to decrease sharply, with only 125 cases remaining, with an average of only 3-5 cases recorded each day and no outbreaks.

Dr. Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control said: "To gradually control the measles epidemic, the sector has effectively implemented the work of monitoring, detecting and zoning outbreaks, avoiding widespread spread and outbreaks. In particular, with the participation and close coordination of the grassroots health system and the education sector, Ha Tinh has effectively implemented measles vaccination campaigns for children of all ages. This is a decisive factor in increasing immunity in the community, effectively preventing and fighting measles epidemics."

According to the update from the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control, in the first phase of the campaign, the vaccination rate reached over 90% and in the second phase of the campaign, localities completed vaccination according to the set plan (completed before March 31, 2025) with a rate of over 98%. In particular, many localities achieved very high rates such as: Thach Ha from 6 to 9 months old reached 99.6%, 1 to 5 years old reached 100%, 6 to 10 years old reached 100%; Ky Anh Town 6 to 9 months old reached over 91.6%, 1 to 5 years old reached 100%, 6 to 10 years old reached 100%; Duc Tho from 6 to 9 months old reached over 90%, 1 to 5 years old reached 100%, 6 to 10 years old reached 100%...

Continue to review injections and prevent cross-infection in medical facilities

Although the measles epidemic is gradually being controlled, there are still many potential risks, especially many people who have not been vaccinated. The risk of cross-infection in medical facilities is still very high.

Ha Tinh medical facilities are doing a good job of isolating and treating measles patients to avoid cross-infection.

Therefore, the Ministry of Health has just sent an urgent document to the directors of medical examination and treatment facilities under the Ministry of Health; directors of health departments of provinces and centrally run cities... on strengthening the work of triage, admission, treatment and control of measles infection in medical examination and treatment facilities.

Dr. Dang Thi Ly - Deputy Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases (Ha Tinh General Hospital) said: "Currently, the department is treating 14 patients with measles. Due to the nature of measles being transmitted through the respiratory tract, unlike some other infectious diseases, for these patients, we have arranged separate isolation and treatment rooms to avoid cross-infection to other patients. Thanks to proactive isolation rooms, there has been no cross-infection between patients so far."

Ha Tinh has completed the second measles vaccination campaign with high results.

In addition to the Provincial General Hospital, other medical examination and treatment facilities in Ha Tinh are also proactive in isolating and treating measles patients in infectious disease departments to prevent cross-infection in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of Health.

The Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control is continuing to direct localities to review and vaccinate those who have not been vaccinated for objective reasons. According to recommendations from the Ministry of Health, only when the vaccination coverage rate reaches over 95% can community immunity be created.

Along with that, the industry is also strengthening surveillance work in the community, promptly detecting suspected cases early to proactively take epidemic prevention solutions, avoiding widespread spread.
