Hanoi is calm and proud with the "city epic"

"Hanoi - Epic of the City" recalls the heroic and glorious historical days of the Capital and the continuation of today's generation in the work of preserving peace, building and developing Hanoi, worthy of the title of City for Peace, Creative City, rising up in the new era.

On the evening of October 10, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the Hanoi People's Committee and Vietnam Television jointly organized a special art and political program called "Hanoi - Epic of the City".

In 90 minutes, the political and artistic program "Hanoi - Epic of the City" was performed interwoven with the connection between music, light and modern 3D mapping technology performances, interspersed with reports and interviews with historical witnesses.

“Hanoi - Epic of the City” takes the audience through three artistic chapters: “Battlefield in the city”, “Nine years in the forest, the heart is still the capital”, “Hanoi song”. In the program, the audience watched reports on the goals and missions of the 60-day and night battle to protect the capital; the last days of holding on to the capital; the miraculous withdrawal; the story of the struggle in the heart of the city during the resistance years; the army marching to liberate the capital, the heroes of the city.

The works were performed by many artists associated with Hanoi: People's Artist Tan Minh, Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, Meritorious Artist Vu Thang Loi; singers Hong Nhung, Trong Tan, Tung Duong, Pham Thu Ha, Ta Quang Thang, To Loan, Truong Linh, Dong Hung, Le Anh Dung; Oplus band; violinist Trinh Minh Hien; Thang Long Orchestra, conductor Dong Quang Vinh.

Viewers get to meet many historical witnesses such as Meritorious Artist Phung De - a veteran war cameraman. During the 60 days and nights of fighting to protect Hanoi citadel in 1946, he was only a 13-year-old guard, acting as a liaison for units in the citadel, present during the historic retreat on February 17, 1947. Ms. Pham Thi Vien - a 22-year-old female self-defense member of the Mai Dong Mechanical Factory, who stood steadfastly by the artillery array to protect Hanoi's sky and contributed to shooting down the F111A aircraft on the night of December 22, 1972.

Through authentic footage and interviews with historical witnesses, viewers have a realistic, objective perspective on the heroic and heroic resistance of the entire nation.

A special highlight of the program is the reenactment of the historic Flag-Salute Ceremony on the afternoon of October 10, 1954 - the first Flag-Salute Ceremony of the liberated capital, full of sacredness, emotion and pride.

Not only bringing valuable documentary footage, the program also offers the audience many heroic, emotional and romantic artistic performances, creating a "city epic" with emotional depth and the rich history of the Capital. Many songs performed in the program have gone through the years and are famous about Hanoi, such as "Remembering Hanoi" (author Hoang Hiep), "Hanoi People" (author Nguyen Dinh Thi), "Se ve Thu do" (author Huy Du), "Down shirt" (author Do Nhuan), "Towards Hanoi" (author Hoang Duong), "Tien ve Ha Noi" (author Van Cao), "Cam chuc thang october" (poem Ta Huu Yen, music Nguyen Thanh), "Em be Ha Noi" (author Hoang Van), "Em oi Ha Noi pho" (poem Phan Vu, music Phu Quang), "Ha Noi niem tin va hy" (author Phan Nhan), "Ha Noi nhung cong cong" (author Quoc Truong), "Nong tan Ha Noi" (author Nguyen Duc Cuong).
