According to the latest V-League transfer news, Hanoi FC has signed a contract with Vietnamese-American center-back Kyle Colonna. This player was born in 1999, has a Vietnamese mother and an American father. His family has created conditions for him to pursue a football career since he was a child.
The 1.90m tall player played 4 years at San Diego State University (2018-2022), played 69 times and was the team captain for 2 consecutive years. Colonna's highest achievement with the team was becoming one of the 14 best teams at the 2022 US College Championship.
After impressing in college football, Colonna signed a professional contract with New Mexico United and played in the US First Division. The 1999-born centre-back made 11 appearances, scoring 2 goals and achieving a pass completion rate of 86%.
Previously, the 25-year-old midfielder had expressed his ambition to play for the Vietnamese national team if he was successfully naturalized. Colonna also returned to Vietnam for a trial at V-League clubs in the middle of the 2023/2024 season but did not reach an agreement with any team.
