As expected, the Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023 championship race was tense and dramatic on the third day of the official competition round.

Joakim Haeggman and Andrew Marshall, who were in T3 after the first two days, suddenly fell and dropped quickly in the rankings, while Scott Hend showed amazing form with 8 birdies to rise to the top. Ricardo Gonzalez also rose strongly with 5 birdies and only 1 bogey, making the race hotter, as Michael Campbell, the 2005 US Open champion, also earned 2 birdies.

Golfer Adilson Da Silva won the championship.

Golfer Adilson Da Silva won the championship.

However, no one could surprise an excellent Adilson Da Silva. The Brazilian golfer maintained his high form to lead the first two days, continued to play explosively on the final day and was deservedly crowned. Throughout the morning of Saturday (December 2), the 51-year-old legend did not look back once. There was a time when he had a bogey, but immediately made up for it with consecutive birdie holes (holes 10, 11, 12).

From a -7 start, Da Silva improved to -9 and maintained an unbridgeable gap with the rest. Finally, with a fifth birdie on the 17th hole and a par on the 18th hole, he finished at -10, becoming the champion of the legendary golf tournament, winning the prize of 93,500 USD. In second place was Hend (-7) while Gonzalez and Campbell were in T3 at (-6).

At 51, Da Silva is a legendary Brazilian golfer. He played and won amateur prizes since he was 17, before turning professional at 22. To date, after 29 years playing on the European Seinor Tour and Sunshine Tour, the Brazilian golfer has won countless victories. However, the biggest mark, and the event that made the whole world remember the name Da Silva, was when he was chosen to tee off the opening ball of the 2016 Olympics. It was a historic moment, marking the return of golf to the Olympics after 112 years.

Now at Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023, another milestone was created in Da Silva's career. He became the winner of the tournament within the framework of the Legends Tour, which was held for the first time in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

There were no surprises in the Best Amateur award. Le Chuc An won with 109 points, while runner-up Nguyen Viet Gia Han finished with 102 points and Nguyen Anh Minh finished T11 with 88 points. Le Chuc An also won the Team Alliance award, along with Emanuele Canonica and Simon Khan.
