On January 3, Mr. Do Van De - principal of Phan Ngoc Hien High School - confirmed to the press that the school had implemented a disciplinary decision to reprimand Mr. N., a biology teacher at the school.
The reason for the discipline is said to be that Mr. N. received money to tutor students to retake exams at an unreasonable price, negatively affecting the reputation of the school's teaching staff and his personal reputation and that of his colleagues.
Previously, Mr. N. was accused by a teacher at the school of receiving money to influence student K. (a student in class 11C5, of which Mr. N. was the homeroom teacher, school year 2022-2023) to move up a grade, with an amount of 7 million VND.
After receiving the information, the school transferred the file to the investigation agency requesting verification of Mr. N's violations.
On December 30, 2024, the Investigation Police Agency of Nam Can District Police sent a reply to Phan Ngoc Hien High School: Through studying the records, it was found that at the end of the 2022-2023 school year, Mr. N. arbitrarily organized extra teaching of biology for student K., of whom he was the homeroom teacher, with the consent of K.'s parents.
Therefore, there is no basis to determine that Mr. N. took advantage of his assigned expertise and profession to coerce and extort money from parents to inflate K.'s re-exam scores or conduct, so there is no sign of a crime.
In the complaint file, the complainant provided a lot of evidence, including a recording of a parent recounting how his child's homeroom teacher asked him to transfer money so that his child could influence his class, and the accused returned the money after the incident was discovered.
In addition, the complaint also includes a number of issues related to management, revenue and expenditure, investment in facilities, emulation and rewards, and other activities at Phan Ngoc Hien High School.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Len - Deputy Inspector of the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau province - said that the content of the petition does not meet the conditions to be considered a denunciation, but is within the scope of recommendations and reflections. The Department Inspector will still verify to respond to the petitioner.
