Gia Vien Efforts to give children a fun and rewarding summer

To make the summer days for children truly beneficial, joyful and safe, the Party Committee, government and each family of Gia Vien district have made efforts to create playgrounds, guiding children to interesting and meaningful experiences.

Summer is an opportunity for parents to take trips that match their wishes and promises to their children. But instead of long trips, Ngoc Bich’s family (Me town, Gia Vien district) chose a tourist destination right in the province.

Ms. Bich shared: Normally, every time the children have summer vacation, my family organizes a short trip. This is an opportunity for the children to rest after a year of hard study, and also an opportunity to bond with family members. However, instead of traveling far, this year I chose to travel right in my hometown.

According to Ms. Bich, there are many beautiful landscapes right in her hometown. Therefore, she will choose attractive destinations with many historical marks for her children to experience. Although traveling near home, each trip takes place in a short time, but this is an opportunity for children to love and be proud of their hometown.

" In addition, I will also let my children participate in harvesting rice and vegetables and help the family by doing chores such as sweeping the house, taking care of pillow plants, folding clothes, etc. so that they can appreciate the value of labor. After that, based on their interests, I will choose for them to participate in life skills classes, both to relax and to gain experience, equipping them with necessary life skills" - Ms. Ngoc Bich added.

However, summer is also the time when unfortunate accidents and injuries to children are likely to occur. Meanwhile, parents have to go to work so they do not have the conditions to regularly supervise their children. Through discussions, the majority of parents expressed their hope that there will be more useful and safe playgrounds, more training courses, and more accident and injury prevention classes for children opened in their locality.

Guiding children into practical activities is the choice of many parents.

Accompanying families, over the past years, the Party Committee and authorities at all levels of Gia Vien district have effectively implemented programs and projects on protecting, caring for and educating children based on diverse resources, promoting the strength of the whole society, in accordance with the practical situation of each locality and unit.

The mobilization and use of resources to implement the goal for children is of concern; children's rights are increasingly fully, effectively and practically implemented. The issuance and implementation of specific policies for children have received high consensus from the people, typically supporting health insurance cards for children in poor, near-poor and newly escaped-poverty households.

Along with that, units and localities have regularly paid attention to, invested in, repaired and upgraded facilities of cultural and sports venues, playgrounds in the community... so that all children can play in a safe space.

Ms. Vu Thi Duoc, Vice Chairman of Gia Vien District People's Committee, said: Every year, in order to create a fun and useful playground to help children develop comprehensively, Gia Vien District has directed functional units to develop a plan to prepare activities to attract children during the summer. This summer, since the end of May, the District People's Committee has developed a plan and assigned specific tasks to specialized departments and related units to implement activities to ensure children have a fun and useful summer.

Accordingly, Gia Vien district has assigned the District Youth Union to direct grassroots unions to organize a variety of activities to attract children to participate in activities at the green bamboo grove. Directing the District Cultural, Sports and Broadcasting Center to carefully prepare facilities to organize good talent classes for children such as martial arts, dancing, singing, swimming, etc. In particular, to create conditions for all children to enjoy a joyful summer, the district also directed communes and towns to establish art troupes and organize cultural and artistic programs at village and hamlet cultural houses.

In particular, the district has also coordinated with Ninh Binh Cheo Theater to open training courses to improve the quality of Cheo singing, Van singing and the use of traditional musical instruments for art clubs in the district, many of which have children as members. After training, competitions and art and sports exchanges will be organized between hamlets and villages. Thereby, creating excitement for not only children but also adults, contributing to strengthening village and neighborhood relationships and improving the spiritual life of rural people.

This year's Action Month for Children, which starts from June 1 to June 30 with the theme "Practical actions, prioritizing resources for children", has been implemented by Gia Vien district with many meaningful and practical activities. The highlight is communication activities in the community to equip knowledge and skills to protect children; prevent children from accidents, injuries, drowning, abuse, and violence for parents and caregivers.

In particular, during this Action Month, Gia Vien district also mobilized businesses and philanthropists to join in carrying out meaningful activities for children in difficult circumstances such as: giving gifts and scholarships to poor children, children in remote areas, children in special circumstances, supporting medical treatment costs for children with serious illnesses... to help them have enough health to study and play healthily.
