The 4-day National Day holiday on September 2 is expected to be a boost for the aviation and tourism industries. While airfares are already high on weekdays, holiday ticket prices show no signs of cooling down.
According to a survey, round-trip airfares from August 31 to September 3 are 500,000 VND to 1.2 million VND higher than usual.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route is currently at 3.4-3.6 million VND/round trip ticket for flights at midnight or early morning. Other flights cost 3.7-4.2 million VND of all airlines.
If flying to Da Nang from Ho Chi Minh City, visitors have to pay 3.5-4.2 million VND/round trip ticket while on weekdays it is only 2.2 million VND. The ticket prices of the airlines do not have much difference. The price only changes according to the good flight time of the day or less convenient flights in the early morning or late at night.
Notably, the Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon route recorded a double increase on normal days. The cheapest ticket price is 3.9 million VND/round trip of Vietjet Air. If flying with Vietravel Airlines, Bamboo Airways or Vietnam Airlines, customers have to pay 4.6-4.9 million VND/round trip ticket.

Ticket prices for the Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang route are currently fluctuating at 2.9-3.4 million VND/round trip. While before the holiday, tourists could buy tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route at 1.5-1.8 million VND/round trip, during the holiday, ticket prices have increased to 2.7-3.3 million VND.
A representative of Vietnam Airlines said that in order to meet the travel needs of passengers, the airline will increase the number of flights during the peak holiday season of September 2 for 4 days from August 30 to September 4. The total number of seats provided on the entire domestic and international network during this time is approximately 500,000 seats, equivalent to nearly 2,500 flights.
Accordingly, the airline will focus on increasing the frequency of domestic flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, Da Lat, Cam Ranh; between Ho Chi Minh City and Hue, Phu Quoc... The total number of domestic seats will reach 330,000, equivalent to more than 1,700 flights, an increase of more than 19% over the same period in 2023.
The international routes with the most flights are between Vietnam and India, China, Thailand, and Australia. The total number of international seats reached more than 150,000, equivalent to more than 650 flights, a slight increase compared to last year.
Vietnam Airlines recorded that key domestic tourist routes were nearly 50% full and forecasted to continue to increase rapidly in the coming time. International routes to India, China, Thailand, and Australia also achieved positive results with occupancy rates of 50-70%.
