The highest pepper purchase price in key pepper growing areas (Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc) was recorded at 160,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, in Dak Nong province, pepper price is at 160,000 VND/kg. Unchanged compared to yesterday.
In Gia Lai, pepper price is 159,000 VND/kg. Unchanged compared to yesterday.
In Dak Lak, pepper price is 160,000 VND/kg. Unchanged compared to yesterday.
In Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai, pepper price today is at 159,000 VND/kg. Continues to remain unchanged compared to yesterday.
In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, pepper price today is at 159,000 VND/kg. Same as yesterday.
Thus, today's pepper price in the domestic market is currently at its lowest price of 159,000 VND/kg.

At the end of last week, pepper prices in the domestic market were traded at 159,000 - 160,000 VND/kg. Except for pepper prices in Dak Nong province, which decreased by 500 VND/kg compared to last week, other localities were generally unchanged.
Pepper prices fell sharply at times this week but recovered by the end of the week, keeping overall prices flat compared to last week. Despite market fluctuations, the final price remained relatively stable.
Currently, many localities are in the pepper harvest stage. However, the recent drought in the Central Highlands has raised concerns about the productivity of the next crop. Organizations have made various forecasts, but most of them are leaning towards the possibility of a decrease in output.
Last year, thanks to high pepper prices and additional income from other crops, most farmers had a better financial foundation. This allowed them to store their products for longer periods of time and not rush to sell them. The mentality of holding on to products in the hope that prices will continue to rise has become more common this year.
On the other hand, high pepper prices and rising financial costs have caused buyers to only buy sparingly and not to buy in large quantities. The market is therefore quite quiet. In the first 3 months of the year, Vietnam's pepper exports did not increase but remained at a low level.
However, there is currently no major selling pressure in the market. Pepper prices remain stable as traders do not have much inventory left, while farmers continue to hold onto their stocks in the hope that prices will rise further in the future.
Pepper price today March 31 in the world market
In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on March 31 (local time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,239 per tonne. Similarly, Muntok white pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $10,066 per tonne.
Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,000/mt.
Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,900/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price also remained unchanged from yesterday at $12,400/ton.
Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 7,100 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 7,300 USD/ton.
Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $10,100/ton.
International pepper prices, especially black pepper, are forecast to continue to rise thanks to strong demand from major markets such as the US and Europe. Currently, major producing countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Brazil are facing difficulties due to unfavorable weather conditions, leading to a decrease in output, while the demand for imported pepper for the food and spice industry is increasing.
In addition, the strong USD is also actively supporting pepper prices in the world market. In Vietnam alone, pepper supply is still quite limited because farmers and traders tend to hold on to their goods, only selling a small amount after the harvest.
It is expected that in March, Vietnam will only export about 16,000 to 18,000 tons, bringing the total export volume in the first quarter to the lowest level in 6 years, about 43,000 - 45,000 tons.
In Sri Lanka, the Kandy pepper harvest is almost complete with a drop of around 20%. The main harvest in April and May is also expected to be lower due to poor flowering in the main growing areas in the central and southern regions. This has led Sri Lankan exporters to aggressively stock up on pepper in anticipation of the upcoming price hikes, especially the mild black variety that is popular with processors.
Meanwhile, the Indian pepper market is also facing low supply due to continuously increasing domestic demand. The large population and high consumer demand have turned India from a net exporter to a net importer of black pepper, further increasing the pressure on the international market.
