Gia Lai: Awarding 2 prizes in tourism professional competitions

(GLO)- On the evening of July 5, in Pleiku City, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province announced and awarded prizes to two contests for tour guides at sites for ethnic minorities and tourism services in 2024.

The tour guide contest for ethnic minorities attracted 17 contestants from Bahnar and Jrai villages, which are part of the province’s community tourism development plan. Contestants explained about a local tourist attraction or introduced the outstanding cultural characteristics of ethnic minorities in the province; and handled situations given by the judges.
At the closing ceremony of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded 7 prizes to the outstanding contestants. Ms. MLê-Lạng Wâu (Chu Á commune, Pleiku city) won the first prize with the theme: “Wâu village on the path of preserving cultural identity”.
The two second prize winners were Ms. Ro Lan Han-Phung village (Bien Ho commune, Pleiku city) and Ms. H'Uyen Nie-Ia Lok village (Ia Mo Nong commune, Chu Pah district). The three third prize winners were Mr. Duk-K'Dung village (H'ra commune, Mang Yang district); Ms. Dinh Thi Bi-Hle Hlang village (Yang Trung commune, Kong Chro district); Mr. Si-De Kjieng village (Ayun commune, Mang Yang district).

Closing the 2024 tourism competition, the organizing committee awarded 3 first prizes, 2 second prizes, 6 third prizes in 4 professions: reception, housekeeping, restaurant, hotel management. Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung (Khanh Linh Hotel) won first prize in reception; Mr. Nguyen Quoc Phuc (Pleiku Hotel) won first prize in housekeeping; Ms. Phan Nguyen Hoai Thuong (Hoai Thuong Hotel) won first prize in management.
The 2024 Tourism Professional Competition attracted 33 contestants from 18 hotel and restaurant service establishments. In addition to practicing according to the Vietnam Tourism Occupational Skills Standards (VTOS), the contestants also handled situations from the judges.
