The Gia Lai Provincial Ethnic Committee was established under Decision No. 145/2004/QD-UB dated December 21, 2004 of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee. Over 20 years of development and growth, the Provincial Ethnic Committee has strived to fulfill its assigned functions and tasks, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc, maintaining national security and defense, and consolidating the political system. Many ethnic policies of the Party and State have been coordinated by the Committee to implement synchronously, promptly, and effectively, such as: Program 135, Program 134; loan policy for production development for ethnic minority households with special difficulties; policy to support migration to implement sedentarization for ethnic minorities; National target program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2030, phase I from 2021 - 2025...
Along with that, the Ethnic Committee has coordinated with departments, branches and sectors to advise the Provincial People's Committee to deploy infrastructure construction, support production development, settlement, etc. for ethnic minority areas with a total budget of 24,185 billion VND. Through programs and policies, it has invested in supporting 30,580 houses, 15,330 households with residential land and production land, built about 1,484 km of rural roads, 448 km of intra-field canals; 676 classrooms; 4,390 centralized water works for about 439,000 beneficiary households; supported production development for 897,872 households, supported settlement for 2,904 households; Supported loans for production development for 517,677 households, organized the issuance of more than 6,454,000 health insurance cards to ethnic minorities in difficult areas,...
Up to now, 99.44% of communes in the province have asphalted or concreted roads to the commune center; 99.92% of villages and hamlets have hardened roads to the center; 99.99% of households have access to the national grid and other sources of electricity; the rate of schools and classrooms built solidly is more than 93%...
At the same time, the economic structure, crops and livestock of ethnic minority areas have shifted in the right direction; people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas have gradually escaped poverty and become rich; the poverty reduction rate among ethnic minorities has met and exceeded the set target every year; by the end of 2024, the poverty rate of ethnic minority households according to the multidimensional poverty standard 2022 - 2025 will decrease to only 12.66%.
Speaking at the Ceremony, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Duong Mah Tiep acknowledged the achievements of the Provincial Ethnic Committee, and at the same time suggested: The Ethnic Committee needs to focus on advising and effectively implementing Projects and Programs for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2030; strengthen monitoring and grasping the situation in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, especially issues related to people's lives, natural disasters, epidemics, "hot spots" of security and order; advise and propose to competent authorities effective and timely solutions...
Continue to innovate the work of propaganda, dissemination and education of law, mobilize ethnic minorities to understand and well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; build a team of cadres doing ethnic work with steadfast political will, ethics, capacity, creativity, and improve the quality of human resources.
Along with that, actively promote the role of the village elders and prestigious people in inspecting, supervising and mobilizing people to implement policies and guidelines; strengthen the great solidarity of ethnic groups, ensure stability of political security and social order and safety in ethnic minority areas; pay attention to the training and education of ethnic minority children and arouse the will and aspirations of ethnic minorities to rise up in socio-economic development, ensure national defense and security, build and preserve the fine traditional cultural identity of the nation...
