Racing boats compete on the Cu De River
The tournament took place excitingly and attractively on the Cu De River in the area of Hoa Hiep Nam and Hoa Hiep Bac wards, organized by the People's Committee of Lien Chieu District.
The traditional boat race on Cu De River is an annual festival, a unique cultural feature of fishermen on the river as well as in the Da Nang Bay area.
The tournament brings together fishermen from fishing villages to exchange and compete.
According to local people, the boat race is to pray for national peace and prosperity, favorable weather, and a prosperous life for residents of the river and coastal areas.
Therefore, no matter where they live and work, every year on the 9th day of the first lunar month, people from the two wards and those who live far away return to their hometown to participate in and cheer for their village racing team.
The men's team of Hoa Hiep Bac Ward won first prize.
This is also an opportunity for fishermen, who make a living from the river, to exchange with racing boat teams from districts, towns and neighboring provinces.
This year's tournament gathered nearly 200 rowers from 8 male and female racing boat teams from Ngu Hanh Son District, Cam Le District, Hoa Vang District (Hoa Lien and Hoa Bac communes), and Lien Chieu District (Hoa Hiep Nam and Hoa Hiep Bac wards).
