According to AppleInsider , Foxconn tries to attract the largest workforce possible at its Zhengzhou (Henan, China) factory facility every year to keep up with Apple's iPhone orders. Increasing the workforce to the maximum of 200,000 employees is only a matter of time, so the company often increases bonuses for those joining their production lines.

This continued this year, as Foxconn began increasing bonuses for new hires on May 29. The maximum bonus for new employees will be around $500 per person, a significant increase from last week when the maximum bonus was $425 per person. The company also increased hourly wages for hourly workers by about 31 cents per hour, bringing the maximum hourly wage to about $3.10.
In fact, Foxconn increased the bonus twice in May. The company increased the bonus for new workers on May 3, then increased it again on May 22. Current workers at the factory can earn a referral bonus of $70 per new employee.
Foxconn has repeatedly used bonuses as a way to attract and retain workers at its Zhengzhou plant, both in normal years and during the difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2022, amid poor working conditions due to Covid-19 restrictions in China, Foxconn quadrupled daily bonuses to retain employees.
