The National Highway 1 bypass through Ca Mau City (Ca Mau Province) has a total length of 14.3km, the construction scale is a level III delta road with a design speed of 80km/h. The project has a roadbed width of 12m, including two lanes and investment in 10 new bridges along the entire route.
The National Highway 1 bypass through Ca Mau city will be completed and opened to traffic before the Lunar New Year 2024, creating favorable conditions for people to travel and reducing the load on the existing National Highway 1.
Reduce the load on Highway 1
The project has a total investment capital from the State budget, with a total cost of more than 1,700 billion VND. Of which, the construction cost is more than 1,200 billion VND. The project is divided into three packages, with Project Management Board 7 as the investor.
In December 2023, the project will be completed and put into use, contributing to the completion of traffic infrastructure, promoting socio-economic development of Ca Mau province in the near future.
Mr. Huynh Quoc Viet, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, said that the project's completion and operation will contribute to reducing the load on National Highway 1 passing through the center of Ca Mau city, reducing congestion and limiting traffic accidents.
"At the same time, the project creates connections with Ca Mau City's Ring Road 3 and the Southern Coastal Corridor Road, aiming to gradually complete the local traffic network according to the local planning. Immediately after being put into use, people living around this area were very excited," Mr. Viet emphasized.
Ms. Kieu Thi Nghi, residing in Nam Dam Hamlet, Luong The Tran Commune, Cai Nuoc District, Ca Mau Province, said: "The completed road is very smooth to drive on. Now, from Bac Lieu to Nam Can and Dat Mui districts (Ngoc Hien District), there is no need to go around the inner city of Ca Mau anymore, shortening travel time by about 30 minutes, saving travel costs."

Mr. Kieu Van Tri, residing in Nam Dam hamlet, Luong The Tran commune, Cai Nuoc district, Ca Mau province, shared: " This year's Tet holiday, people in Cai Nuoc, Nam Can and Ngoc Hien districts travel safely on the new road.
This is the main artery that opens up a direction for rapid and sustainable development in both the economy and society of Ca Mau city and Cai Nuoc district.
A new spring is coming, people's joy is multiplied because this year they will be able to walk on a new asphalt road, stretching like a silk strip.
Along the newly completed road, many new, modern and spacious houses have been built, changing the quality of life of the people.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Bang, Chief of Office of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, shared that the National Highway 1 bypass through Ca Mau city put into use will help reduce the load on National Highway 1, shorten the road to Dat Mui, limit traffic congestion in the inner city of Ca Mau city, especially during the Lunar New Year 2024.

"To reduce the number of traffic accidents, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee has increased propaganda on traffic safety and issued a plan to coordinate with press and radio agencies to regularly inform about traffic situations on routes, especially key routes, so that traffic participants have choices when traveling, avoiding too many vehicles at one time causing congestion," Mr. Bang added.
According to Mr. Bang, the police force has a plan to launch a peak patrol and control campaign, promptly detect and handle traffic safety violations.
In particular, focus on controlling violations that easily lead to traffic accidents, such as violations of alcohol concentration, speed, road construction, road sections, not wearing helmets... when participating in traffic during the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024.
