Nguyen Filip's class has been confirmed after 8 years of playing in Fortuna Liga (Czech Republic national championship). He also has a skill foundation that experts consider a standard and model for Vietnamese goalkeepers to learn from. Coach Alexandre Polking also said that Nguyen Filip is still a good goalkeeper, and "cannot judge a player based on a few mistakes". Based on the scale of goalkeepers' all-round ability according to SportBase statistics, the performance of the goalkeeper with Vietnamese - Czech blood is rated the highest.
However, to regain the No. 1 position in the Vietnamese team, Nguyen Filip needs more than what he has. The basic mistakes he has made in the past 2 years come from many factors, including communication skills (calling out commands, exchanging with teammates) and psychology, which are obstacles for the goalkeeper born in 1992. The 33-year-old goalkeeper won the "best goalkeeper of AFF Cup 2024" award, but it should be emphasized that Dinh Trieu's performance is still not perfect. There are still inaccurate catches and unconfident handling of Dinh Trieu throughout the championship journey. If he does not continue to break away, it will be difficult for the goalkeeper of Hai Phong Club to maintain his position.

However, when both Nguyen Filip and Dinh Trieu lack breakthroughs, the opportunity will return to Van Lam. In fact, the goalkeeper born in 1993 was initially in coach Kim Sang-sik's plan to participate in the AFF Cup 2024, then "missed the boat" due to injury (his place in the tournament was transferred to Tran Trung Kien). During the first 4 matches of Mr. Kim with the Vietnamese team, Van Lam and Nguyen Filip always shared the starting position (each goalkeeper played 2 matches). Even when Van Lam chose to play in the first division, he was still highly appreciated by Mr. Kim and goalkeeper coach Lee Woon-jae.
Because Van Lam is the goalkeeper who brings the most balanced solution among the goalkeepers of the Vietnamese team. He is more experienced and has more standard techniques than Dinh Trieu and Trung Kien, due to many years of training at the famous training centers of Spartak Moscow and Dynamo Moscow, and also played for Muangthong United (Thailand) and Cerezo Osaka (Japan). Compared to Nguyen Filip, Van Lam is superior in communication skills and commanding the defense, with a rich Vietnamese vocabulary, and 8 years of wearing the Vietnamese team shirt.
Expert Doan Minh Xuong commented: "If Van Lam focuses and makes an effort, he will still be a top-class goalkeeper no matter what tournament he plays in." Reality proves that the 32-year-old goalkeeper still maintains a stable form. He and Ninh Binh Club won all 8 first rounds in the first division, only conceding 1 goal. In the National Cup, Van Lam shone on penalties, helping Ninh Binh overcome the penalty shootout twice to advance to the semi-finals. Although the first division measure is not "heavy" enough for Van Lam, but with what he has done in his career, the former Muangthong United goalkeeper has nothing more to prove.
Maintaining his current form, Van Lam will return to challenge for the number 1 position in the Vietnamese national team.
