These advantages are gradually becoming a reality when the Vietnam Film Promotion and Development Association (VFCD) officially signed a cooperation agreement with Ninh Binh province.

Ninh Binh is an ancient land of the Red River Delta, with an important geographical location, favored by nature, endowed with many rich and unique natural landscapes with many famous landscapes and scenic spots; diverse mountain, river, and cave systems; convenient transportation system; along with unique historical, cultural, architectural and artistic relics; in which, the most typical is the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex.
Historically, Ninh Binh was the capital of the first centralized feudal state of Vietnam, associated with three dynasties: Dinh Dynasty, Tien Le Dynasty and Ly Dynasty. Currently, the province still preserves many valuable tangible and intangible cultural heritages that are being invested in to preserve and promote their value.
The whole province has 1,821 relics, including 01 world heritage, 3 special national relics, 78 national relics; 06 national treasures, 393 intangible cultural heritages.
With these advantages, Ninh Binh has become one of the important tourist destinations, attracting many tourists in the Northern Delta region.

According to statistics from the Department of Information and Communications of Ninh Binh province, in the first 6 months of this year, the whole province welcomed more than 6.2 million visitors, an increase of 38% over the same period in 2023, reaching 83.5% of the yearly plan, with revenue reaching nearly 6,000 billion VND, making an important contribution to the local economic growth rate.

With these advantages, in recent years, Ninh Binh province has become the filming location of many films. Ninh Binh's landscape has been chosen by many domestic and international filmmakers as the setting for films such as The Quiet American, The Two Daughters of the Medicinal Garden Owner, The Hero's Destiny, Kong: Skull Island, The Desire of Thang Long, Tam Cam - The Untold Story, 578 - The Madman's Bullet, Come Home, Trang Ti, The Taste of Love, Cheer Up, Brothers...

That proves that Ninh Binh province is fully capable of becoming a filming location for Hollywood blockbusters as well as Vietnamese movies and television series to promote the culture, tourism, and people of the ancient capital of a thousand years of civilization to international friends.

With the results achieved, in recent years, Ninh Binh has been voted many times with high rankings by prestigious international travel websites.
In 2022, Travel and Leisure Magazine (USA) ranked Ninh Binh among the 12 most beautiful filming locations in Asia. In 2023, Ninh Binh won the Traveler Review Award, being the only representative of Vietnam in the top 10 friendliest destinations in the world. Forbes Magazine (USA) voted Ninh Binh as one of the 23 most worth-visiting destinations in the world. In 2024, Ninh Binh ranked 4th in the "Top 10 wonders of the world for people who don't like crowds"; top 10 most attractive experiences in the world.
With the goal of promoting tourist destinations, potential filming locations, attracting international film studios to Vietnam to film films with great appeal, promoting international tourists to Vietnam in general and Ninh Binh in particular, the delegation of Ninh Binh province joined the delegation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the Vietnam Tourism - Cinema Promotion Program in the United States with the theme "Vietnam - New Destination of World Cinema" from September 21-28, 2024; attending the Busan International Film Festival 2024 taking place from October 2 to October 11 in Busan city (Korea).

This is an opportunity for Ninh Binh province to approach, meet and connect with agencies, organizations, film producers, directors and important figures in the international film industry, thereby attracting them to Vietnam in general and Ninh Binh province in particular to produce films. In addition, this is also an opportunity to promote and advertise Ninh Binh tourism as well as survey and learn from experience in gradually building film studios to serve cinema and tourism.
Realize your goals with concrete steps
Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Cinema Promotion Association, said that recently, the Association has actively chaired activities to promote filming locations in the provinces of Ninh Binh, Da Nang, Quang Ninh and Phu Yen. “We want to turn Ninh Binh’s potential into concrete results and after the Association signed a memorandum of cooperation with Ninh Binh, there will be many opportunities to realize that potential.”

Sharing the reason for choosing Ninh Binh for cooperation for the first time, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan said that Ninh Binh is an ancient capital with potentials in terms of landscapes and relics, which can be considered a miniature Vietnam, with cultural sediments, historical sediments, cultural heritages and intangible cultural heritages. In particular, Ninh Binh has a high determination, included in the province's policy and resolution, to turn Ninh Binh into a cultural and heritage center, taking cultural industry, cinema, tourism as the spearhead of economic development and related industries.
Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan also said that right after the signing ceremony, there will be Vietnamese and international films made in Ninh Binh, such as “Flame of the Heart” from France, “Love of Vietnam” from India, and “Sitting Crying on the Tree” from Vietnam.
In addition, according to information from Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan and Ninh Binh province, a historical film studio will be built in Ninh Binh. The studio is expected to be built in the communes of Phu Loc, Quynh Luu, Gia Son, Gia Lam (Nho Quan district), Gia Trung, Gia Hung, Gia Van (Gia Vien district), Ninh Giang, Ninh Tien, Ninh My (Hoa Lu).

Ms. Ngo Thi Bich Hanh, General Director of BHD, said that BHD had chosen Ninh Binh as the location to film a number of films, such as "Tam Cam - The Untold Story" in 2016.
“Returning to Ninh Binh this time with VFDA, we felt the wild and majestic beauty of nature, the unique culture, the mysterious folk legends and especially the warm affection of the Ninh Binh people. We really hope that BHD will soon have another film filmed in Ninh Binh, and more importantly, tell about one of the countless heroic and inspiring folk legends of the people here” - Ms. Ngo Thi Bich Hanh said.

Director Phan Gia Nhat Linh, who filmed the movie Trang Ti in Ninh Binh, also said that HK FILM, CJHK and his Anh Teu film company plan to film a new movie in Ninh Binh in the near future.
The cooperation event between Ninh Binh and the Association for the Promotion of Cinema Development also received enthusiastic support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said that with the potential and strengths in culture, history, economy and tourism of Ninh Binh province, with the experience, prestige and continuous efforts to build Vietnamese cinema in recent years of the Association for the Promotion of Cinema Development of Vietnam, and at the same time looking at the general and specific goals of the Memorandum of Cooperation just signed, he hopes that this cooperation program will become a model for the successful construction and development of local cinema in general, and the successful construction of the film industry in Ninh Binh in particular.

Cinema has contributed to helping tourism in some places in Vietnam “take off” after being featured in the film, and Phu Yen is a typical example. With its potential and advantages being turned into reality, Ninh Binh will soon become a new meeting place for Vietnamese and international films.
