Bringing traditional art into Mid-Autumn Festival 2023

The painting “Autumn Moon Shadow” by artist Hoang Huu Van brings to viewers the story of a full moon night in August, with the image of a little girl looking up at the sky with her clear eyes and familiar memories of an old Mid-Autumn Festival with Hang, Cuoi, moon cakes, lion dances, lantern processions… All are spaces of nostalgia, bringing viewers back to the atmosphere and flavor of the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival that is deeply engraved in the memories of many Vietnamese people. The simple story of a reunion moonlit night shining in the eyes of children, or in the feelings of adults towards their family, homeland, and roots has been included in the collection “Moonlight” by young designers and artisans from Ha Thai craft village.

As a person passionate about traditional culture, with a journey of more than 20 years searching for materials for applied art designs in the field of gifts and souvenirs imbued with Vietnamese identity, Ms. Hoang My Lien shared that the "Moonlight" collection with lacquer boxes made by skilled craftsmen of Ha Thai lacquer village and the traditional flavor of moon cakes made by culinary artisans is the emotional "touch" between traditional and modern culture. That cultural and artistic foundation is a valuable material for applied art product designs, aiming to increase the cultural value of Vietnamese products, while spreading traditional culture in a new and attractive way, especially to young people. The creative team of the "Moonlight" collection hopes that they will continue the journey of the "Touching the Dream" project to bring many stories about Vietnamese culture and quintessence to the public.
