Speed up on the jobsite
In late March 2025, the construction atmosphere at the Dak Nong Provincial General Hospital Upgrade Project was very bustling. During the day, the construction site maintained 150 - 160 workers. At night, the contractor mobilized an average of about 50 workers to work overtime from 5:00 p.m. to about 8 - 9:00 p.m.
Most of the workers are working in the main building of the project. This building consists of a 4-storey block, a 7-storey block and 1 basement. The construction area of the main building is about 8,200m2 , the total floor area is nearly 48,000m2 .

Currently, the main building has completed the structural part (foundation, columns, beams, floors) of the 2 blocks. The mechanical and electrical systems, water supply and drainage, and fire protection (MEP) have also been basically constructed, with about 95% of the volume completed.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Dung, commander of the Dak Nong Provincial General Hospital upgrade project, the main building is in the final stages of completion. The contractor is divided into many construction teams working in a "rolling" manner from top to bottom.
On the roof of the building, the construction team is focusing on finishing the yard. After being leveled with thin bricks and cement, the top of the yard is covered with anti-slip red bricks. These bricks were brought from the northern provinces for construction.
Inside the upper floors, many groups of workers are performing tasks such as masonry, tiling, plaster ceilings, painting, etc. The shifts are divided into synchronous tasks, without overlapping each other's work. The electromechanical system is also installed from top to bottom, ensuring quick connection when the structure is completed.
Currently, the Dak Nong Provincial General Hospital Upgrade Project has reached about 75% of the total construction volume, equivalent to 400 billion VND. The department upgrade items are being implemented in parallel with the completion of the main building.
In addition to the construction of the main building, the contractor is dividing the construction teams to renovate the old buildings. Because the hospital both examines and treats patients and renovates, the construction is being carried out flexibly in each area. The departments will be handed over in parts so as not to affect the examination and treatment work.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Dung said: From April 2025, we will increase the workforce to about 250 workers to speed up the project progress. The contractor's goal is to speed up the construction progress of the main building, promptly handing over the entire site to serve the installation of equipment.
Race to the finish line early
The Dak Nong Provincial General Hospital upgrade project was approved in 2021 with a total investment of VND 753 billion (VND 750 billion from the central budget and VND 3 billion from the local budget). The project is invested by the Dak Nong Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board (DPMB).
This is a very large project of Dak Nong province. In addition to the main building, the project also builds auxiliary items, surrounding technical infrastructure and repairs existing buildings. The project has a large volume of high-value equipment, including: construction equipment, medical equipment, and office equipment.

According to the Dak Nong Provincial Project Management Board, the project is in the final stage. Currently, the main building block (including 4-storey, 7-storey and 1 basement) has completed the entire structure, reaching 98% of the contract value. It is expected that in June 2025, the entire main building block will be completed and handed over for use in July 2025.
Auxiliary items such as transformer stations, infection control departments, wastewater treatment plants, helipads, etc. have reached about 98% of the volume. Some small projects such as oxygen tank houses, security houses, incinerators, etc. are being implemented and are expected to be completed in June 2025.
Technical infrastructure including yards, internal roads, lighting systems, trees, drainage, etc. is also being completed, aiming for handover in the middle of this year.
The renovation of the existing blocks has been largely completed, with blocks B, C, D, and E expected to be completed in June 2025. Block A will be renovated and handed over in parts, and fully completed in November 2025.
Equipment supply is being accelerated. About 55/185 billion VND worth of equipment has been imported to the construction site, including: medical equipment, electromechanical equipment, air conditioning and fire protection systems. Some equipment has been handed over to serve medical examination and treatment at the hospital.
According to Director of Dak Nong Provincial Project Management Board Ha Sy Son, the implementation of the project encountered some difficulties, affecting the construction progress. In the main building category, the progress of supplying materials and equipment did not meet the requirements. The reason was that these equipment had to be imported. Some items had to be adjusted, causing the equipment to be delivered late.
For the renovation and repair of existing buildings, the project generated additional volume beyond the design. This forced the construction unit and the investor to carry out technical procedures at the site and adjust the design, leading to a prolongation of the implementation time.
At the same time, the construction process in the hospital premises is also facing many inconveniences: noise and dust affect patients. The contractor has to divide the construction progress and apply environmental protection measures, further slowing down the progress.

To resolve these problems, Dak Nong Provincial Project Management Board has worked with contractors, requesting commitments to speed up progress, increase human resources, equipment, and materials.
Those units that do not comply with the schedule will be subject to strict sanctions. At the same time, procedures for handling issues arising at the site will also be accelerated to ensure the project is completed on schedule.
Mr. Ha Sy Son said: "The investor has directed the contractor to speed up, complete the main building before September 30, 2025 and complete the renovation of existing buildings in November 2025. We are determined to complete the project ahead of schedule to make achievements to welcome the 13th Dak Nong Provincial Party Congress".
