A representative of Cienco4 Group said that on July 6, 2024, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province and the joint venture of investors T&T - Cienco4 will officially start the Quang Tri Airport Construction Investment Project (CHK Quang Tri).

The project is implemented in Gio Quang, Gio Hai and Gio Mai communes, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province with a scale of more than 265 hectares, a total investment of more than 5,800 billion VND, built to meet CHK level 4C standards (according to the standard code of the International Civil Aviation Organization - ICAO) and a level II military airport.

"With this scale, Quang Tri Airport is capable of developing and exploiting Code E aircraft, meeting the exploitation needs of up to 5 million passengers/year and 25,500 tons of cargo/year.

According to the approved roadmap, the project implementation period is 50 years. Of which, the project preparation and construction investment period is 24 months; the operation and toll collection period for capital recovery is 47 years and 2 months.

It is expected that by July 2026, Quang Tri Airport will be put into operation and use," informed a representative of Cienco4 Group.

According to PV's research, Quang Tri Airport is identified as one of 16 domestic airports in the 2021-2030 period and one of 19 domestic airports with a vision to 2050 according to the Master Plan for the development of the national airport system in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister.

Previously, at the end of December 2023, Quang Tri province awarded the Decision approving the results of investor selection and the Business Registration Certificate of the PPP project enterprise to the investor consortium T&T Transport Infrastructure Investment and Development Company Limited (a member of T&T Group) and Cienco4 Group Joint Stock Company.

Quang Tri possesses an important geo-economic and political position, is the intersection of the North-South and East-West economic axes, and has favorable traffic conditions by road, rail and waterway.

Among them are the country's vital traffic routes, especially the East-West Economic Corridor, the shortest trans-Asian route connecting countries in the region from Myanmar - Thailand - Laos through the Lao Bao international border gate to Central Vietnam and expanding to the ASEAN region.

Located in the dynamic tourism development area of ​​Quang Binh - Quang Tri - Thua Thien Hue - Da Nang - Quang Nam, Quang Tri also possesses outstanding tourism strengths with a 75km long coastline, resorts along the Cua Viet - Cua Tung coast, beautiful caves, waterfalls and many historical relics, scenic spots at provincial and national levels such as: Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery, Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Special National Monument, Hien Luong - Ben Hai Banks...

In the context of spiritual tourism and source tourism increasing sharply, it is forecasted that the number of tourists from both ends of the country flocking to Quang Tri to visit relics associated with national history combined with resort tourism will explode.

With these advantages and potentials, the operation of Quang Tri Airport will contribute to "opening the sky", stimulating tourism, combining freight transport and logistics, serving the development of industrial parks, economic zones, commercial services, and airport urban areas; contributing to ensuring national defense and security; serving rescue work...

The project is also expected to become a lever to boost the local economy, attracting domestic and international enterprises to invest when, together with projects such as Cam Lo - La Son Expressway, National Highway 15D, the Trans-Asia Highway connecting Laos - Thailand, the coastal road project connecting the East - West economic corridor, Lao Bao - Cam Lo Expressway, My Thuy deep-water port, My Thuy - Dong Ha - Lao Bao railway... completing the local synchronous transportation network.

Cienco4 Group has been participating in many large aviation infrastructure projects across the country.

Investor Strength

It should be said that, after the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway PPP project on the North - South Eastern expressway in the 2017 - 2020 period, Quang Tri Airport is the latest PPP project in which Cienco4 Group participates in a joint investment.

Before "joining the race" with CHK Quang Tri, Cienco4 was also one of the rare construction enterprises in the Transport industry that was "chosen" for many large bidding packages/projects in the aviation sector.

Typically, at the "super airport" project Long Thanh being implemented, Cienco4 Group was selected by Vietnam Airlines Corporation as a partner to implement Package 4.6 with a total investment of more than 8,100 billion VND, the second largest package of component project 3 of the Long Thanh airport project, after package 5.10 worth 35,000 billion VND.
