On the evening of October 18, the Vietnamese team returned to Hanoi after a direct flight from Seoul (South Korea), ending a series of friendly matches in October with strong teams to prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 Asian Cup.
All three opponents in the October friendly series are considered to be of higher quality than the Vietnamese team, including China (ranked 80th), Uzbekistan (ranked 75th) and South Korea (ranked 26th).
These are very high-quality matches in terms of expertise for the Vietnamese team in the final preparation stage before entering the 2026 World Cup qualifiers starting next November and the 2023 Asian Cup taking place in early 2024.
Coach Troussier encourages Quang Hai
The team is persistently aiming for the top arena with a strategy of building up its force by creating conditions for players to compete with the top teams in the continent. It can be seen that these are all teams that the Vietnamese team normally only has the opportunity to face when reaching the final qualifying round of the World Cup.
Coach Troussier gave many words of encouragement to his students, especially to injured players like Que Ngoc Hai and Nguyen Quang Hai, and wished that this duo will soon return to wear the national team jersey.
He also advised the players to continue to practice hard when they return to the club to maintain their form for the upcoming important training session.
According to the plan, the team will gather again in early November, after the players complete the third round of matches in the 2023-2024 V-League. In this training session, coach Philippe Troussier and his team will visit the Philippines on November 16 and return home to host the Iraq team on November 21, within the framework of Group F, the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.
