Vietnam team 0-6 Korea
“The Vietnamese team played well against a top-class team like South Korea, but it is sad that the result was not as expected. I think the Vietnamese players could have scored two or three goals ,” coach Philippe Troussier said at a press conference after the match in which Vietnam lost 0-6 to South Korea.
Despite losing by a large score, Coach Troussier assessed that his players played well. The French coach regretted some missed opportunities by Truong Tien Anh, Nguyen Dinh Bac and Khuat Van Khang.
"We used a defensive counter-attacking tactic with quick players. In this way, I think the Vietnamese team could have scored 2-3 goals. The players are not used to playing in this situation but they did well," said coach Troussier.
In the friendly match with South Korea, the Vietnamese team had to face a barrage of attacks from their opponents. Coach Troussier’s players conceded two goals in the first half from the shots of stars Kim Min-jae (Bayern Munich) and Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton). In the second half, the Vietnamese team conceded four more goals.
Coach Troussier was not surprised by the defeat of the Vietnamese team.
" The two teams have big physical differences, the Vietnamese team is not as good as the Korean team in terms of tactics. This is not surprising, the Korean team is excellent. We understand our level and are looking for ways to improve, " said Mr. Troussier.
The French coach emphasized that the Vietnamese team is still in the process of preparing for the World Cup qualifiers. He and his colleagues will have psychological measures to help the players not be negatively affected by the 0-6 loss. Coach Troussier expressed pride in the players' efforts, especially in the second half when they had to play with one less player when Bui Hoang Viet Anh received a red card.
Coach Troussier added: “ The defeat and the score are not surprising. The defeat and the score are not surprising. We clearly saw the difference in ability and experience compared to the opponent. It is a pity to have to play with 10 men on the field.
However, we have fulfilled all the tactical requirements in this match. The biggest gain is experience. The Vietnamese players are not used to playing in front of more than 40,000 spectators. The results of the experiments will be proven over time .
