The Vietnamese team is full of spirit, will they play offensively in Singapore?

Playing defensively is not the forte of the Vietnamese team at the moment. Firstly, our defense is not very tall, making it easy for opponents to penetrate if they have enough space and time to make long-range passes into our penalty area. Secondly, the Vietnamese team currently does not have a muscular defensive midfielder, like Nguyen Minh Chau at the 2008 AFF Cup and the duo Nguyen Huy Hung and Pham Duc Huy at the 2018 AFF Cup. Therefore, if the Vietnamese team is concentrated in defense, the pressure on the defenders and goalkeeper will be very high, because we lack someone to intercept from a distance.

Moreover, the Vietnamese team currently possesses too many excellent attacking stars: Nguyen Xuan Son, Nguyen Quang Hai, Nguyen Tien Linh, plus promising young talents also in the attack, such as Nguyen Hai Long, Bui Vi Hao. Even central midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc is better at attacking than defending. Therefore, it would be a huge waste if the Vietnamese team did not play offensively to take advantage of the abilities of these players.

Only when the whole team plays with an attacking orientation, Nguyen Xuan Son and Nguyen Tien Linh receive many balls from the back to the front line. Only when the Vietnam team plays offensively, can we take advantage of Quang Hai's close approaches to the opponent's penalty area. When Quang Hai plays close to the opponent's penalty area, that is when he is most dangerous, most creative, and has the most breakthrough moves.

Not to mention the Vietnamese team's spirit is high. If the team does not take advantage of this spirit to put pressure on Singapore, it will be another waste.

Of course, how long the Vietnamese team will play offensively and when to increase the speed will be a specific calculation of coach Kim Sang-sik, in order to bring the highest efficiency in the team's attacks. Our strength is attack, so coach Kim Sang-sik will not be foolish enough not to take advantage of this strength, especially in the context of the Singaporean opponent not being strong, and losing the advantage of playing on a giant football field, the Singapore National Stadium, which has a capacity of up to 50,000 people. Jalan Besar Stadium is too small (capacity of only 6,000 people), not enough for Singapore to create mental pressure on the Vietnamese players.
