In a very short time, the medical force of 30 doctors, nurses, service staff and security guards urgently completed preparations to depart as planned.

Late on the evening of March 29, receiving the mission to join the earthquake disaster relief team in Myanmar, Lieutenant Colonel Lai Ba Thanh (Military Hospital 103, Military Medical Academy) quickly prepared military equipment and essential supplies for a long-term overseas mission. This is not the first time Thanh has carried out an international mission, helping a friendly country overcome an earthquake disaster. Previously, participating with the Vietnam People's Army delegation to support earthquake relief in Türkiye (February 2023), Thanh gained a lot of experience. Therefore, the leaders of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering trusted him very much and assigned him to take on the role of Captain of the Military Medical Team.

Leaders of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering presented gifts to military medical forces before they departed for their mission.

Lieutenant Colonel Lai Ba Thanh expressed: "Through the mission in Türkiye, I deeply realize that this is a difficult and arduous mission, but very honorable and proud. The forces have to operate independently, far from the command and direction of the unit; lack everything; work hard, have to take advantage of every second, every minute and the weather is extremely harsh, and the language difference is also a great difficulty for the activities of admission, emergency, treatment... Besides, danger always lurks because after the earthquake there are still aftershocks. However, with the noble international spirit and the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, the spirit of dedication and effort to treat the sick of the military doctors, we are ready to receive and excellently complete the assigned tasks, helping to minimize damage to the people of your country".

The military medical team participating in supporting the earthquake recovery in Myanmar includes: 1 disaster relief team of Military Hospital 103 (16 comrades); 1 disaster relief medical team of Military Hospital 105 (7 comrades) and 1 resuscitation-emergency team of Military Hospital 354 (7 comrades). Many of them have experience in participating in earthquake disaster relief in Türkiye. Immediately after receiving orders from superiors, on the night of March 29, the units urgently prepared full equipment, medicine, medical supplies, ensuring use for relief work for 2 weeks, treating 50-100 victims/day. Logistics-technical equipment such as tents, generators, cooking utensils, food, etc. were also urgently prepared.

On the morning of March 30, at the task assignment ceremony for the Military Medical Team participating in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar, the leaders of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering commended the units and individuals who had prepared for the trip urgently, fully, thoughtfully, with a high sense of responsibility; at the same time, they expressed their belief that in any circumstance, the Military Medical Team will always thoroughly grasp the policies, viewpoints, and foreign policies of our Party and State and the fine traditions of the nation and the Vietnam People's Army, and will excellently complete the task of assisting and rescuing the victims of the earthquake disaster in Myanmar, worthy of being military medical soldiers of Uncle Ho's Army.
