According to data from the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM), which includes five main members: Honda Vietnam, Piaggio Vietnam, Suzuki Vietnam, SYM Vietnam and Yamaha Motor Vietnam, sales in the third quarter of 2024 showed a strong recovery. However, it should be noted that this data only reflects the number of vehicles sold domestically and does not include the number of exports.

Motorcycle sales in the third quarter of 2024 increased by 1,374% compared to the previous quarter, figure 1.

While other car manufacturers do not announce detailed sales figures, Honda Vietnam still maintains its position by regularly announcing monthly figures. Notably, in the third quarter of 2024, Honda sold 554,805 vehicles, accounting for 80.8% of VAMM's total sales. Specifically, July recorded 191,330 vehicles sold, August was 178,514 vehicles, and September reached 184,961 vehicles.

Although September sales increased 3.6% compared to the previous month, they decreased 5.4% compared to the same period in 2023, showing fluctuations in consumer demand and market competition.

The growth in the third quarter shows that the purchasing power of the motorbike market is recovering after a difficult period that lasted from 2023, when the industry's sales fell sharply by 25%. Although it has not yet fully returned to pre-pandemic levels, with car manufacturers continuously launching new models, improving technology and services, the outlook for the Vietnamese motorbike market in the following quarters is expected to continue to improve.
