The tire rescue vehicle designed by Mr. Dao Van Minh (Hanoi) can help cars move to a safe place without disassembly, receiving an encouragement prize at the 2023 Science Initiative contest.

The emergency rescue and spare tire replacement vehicle (Avandy) used by Mr. Minh has a structure made of cast iron tube frame made of alloy steel, a semi-circular bridge with HHS steel studs combined with a tire fixing belt. The bottom has a wheel tire made of special material that can withstand heavy loads. When the tire explodes, there is no need to lift it, just control the vehicle to move to the correct position of the rescue vehicle and then it can move after only a few minutes.

The idea of ​​making a rescue vehicle came when Dao Van Minh's car had a flat tire on the highway to Hai Phong late at night in 2020. "I thought, is there an emergency solution for vehicle owners to 'rescue' themselves and move immediately to a safe place?, because human life is the most important," he said.

From idea generation, experimentation and product improvement to the finished product took him more than a year. He said the most important steps were choosing materials, designing wheels and tires. The cost of materials for the experiment was expensive with nearly 300 times of testing and improvement.

He explained that cars have a large load capacity and need to ensure safety when moving at high speeds, so the construction of a rescue vehicle must be able to withstand the load and work at high intensity. The most difficult thing is to optimally design the ramp so that the car can climb up without slipping, which means creating friction to grip the road surface when the car moves up. "Many times I wanted to give up because no matter how I designed the ramp, the car still could not climb up," he recalled, adding that he later cooperated with a Japanese manufacturing unit to produce frames and tires with high precision, able to withstand high loads and speeds.

After hundreds of changes and improvements, he has achieved the optimal design and selected the appropriate materials. The author hopes that the solution will support car users, contribute to reducing traffic accidents, congestion and costs, ensuring the safety of life and property for car owners, and saving time compared to calling for help.

He said he will continue to balance the elements, improve compact devices and coordinate with businesses to deploy, aiming to cooperate with car manufacturers as an essential complimentary device, caring for consumers.

Mr. Phung Van Thang's family (Long Bien, Hanoi) used the Avandy rescue vehicle because they often travel to the factory in Bac Ninh. He said that at first when his wife bought it, he did not trust this product much, mainly putting it in the trunk of the car to use as a cart to carry heavy items, tables and chairs for camping and for the children to play with. But during the April 30 holiday, when the family traveled from Thanh Hoa to Hanoi, the car had a flat tire, at this time the rescue vehicle suddenly became a lifesaver. "When I experienced the rescue vehicle carrying the MitsubishiXpandex, I was completely convinced," said Mr. Thang.

With a feasible and useful solution, bringing humanitarian meaning to the community, the invention of author Dao Van Minh was awarded the Encouragement Prize by the Jury of the 2023 Science Initiative Competition. The Jury also advised the author to coordinate with an experienced manufacturer when wanting to commercialize the product to the market.

In its second year, VnExpress's 2023 Science Initiative Contest hopes to create a playground for those who love science and technology; targeting professional and non-professional scientists under 40 years old, to seek initiatives, solutions, and connections to accelerate the application of advances in science and technology.
