Also in the Zaporozhye direction, on March 17, the Russian Defense Ministry officially confirmed that Russia had taken full control of the village of Mirnoe. The settlement is located southwest of the town of Gulyai-Pole. This Russian success could mark the beginning of a large-scale offensive in the new direction.

According to AVP, Russian assault units of the 35th Army Group of the Vostok Forces repelled units of the 203rd Battalion of the 108th Brigade of the Ukrainian Territorial Defense Forces from the village of Mirnoe.

According to reports from the front, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to counterattack but were unsuccessful, and much of Ukraine’s equipment was destroyed. Ukraine’s efforts to bring in reserves into the battle were also disrupted.

Besides, in the Kherson region, on the right bank of the Dnieper River, the Russian army also launched attacks on many positions of the Ukrainian army.

The regional governor, Vladimir Saldo, announced this on his Telegram channel. According to him, the attacks targeted drone operators in the settlements of Ivanovka and Antonovka, a mobile mortar in Tokarevka and a radar station in the village of Vetrovoye. Saldo stated that these targets were used to attack civilian facilities on the left bank of the Dnieper River.

The Russian military obtained the coordinates of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine thanks to the efforts of the local underground movement "Kherson Russia" consisting of residents of the region.
