Electronic identification brings huge benefits

Currently, many people still wonder what is the difference between an electronic identification account and a citizen identification card (CCCD)? Why do people still need to register for an electronic identification account after being issued a CCCD?

According to Decree 59/2022/ND-CP, dated September 5, 2022 of the Government regulating electronic identification and authentication, "Electronic identification account" is a collection of login names, passwords or other forms of authentication created by the electronic identification and authentication management agency.

Electronic identification accounts are managed and authenticated on the national electronic identification application (VNeID) created and developed by the Ministry of Public Security.

Unlike the CCCD card, the electronic identification account will have its information authenticated in the electronic environment. This account will help citizens carry out administrative procedures in the electronic environment guaranteed by the Ministry of Public Security, especially online public services.

Having just successfully registered a level 2 electronic identification account at the Provincial Public Administration Service Center, Ms. Do Thi Mo, Duc Xuan Ward (Bac Kan City) shared: “After being informed about the benefits of electronic identification, I quickly went to register and activate my account. In my opinion, integrating all types of personal identification documents into the electronic identification account will create many conveniences for people, just using the VNeID application can perform many administrative transactions as well as electronic payments”.

The biggest benefit of electronic identification is that when using a VNeID account, people save a lot of time and money because they do not have to fill out many forms, reduce many procedural steps, and reduce personal documents when performing public administrative transactions. Citizens can replace their CCCD cards and the types of documents they register for integration and display on the national electronic identification application such as: Driver's license, vehicle registration, health insurance...

Transactions in the electronic environment conducted through electronic identification accounts are guaranteed to be more reliable, accurate, fast, simple, economical, and effective than traditional methods (identity papers, face-to-face meetings, etc.), but still ensure security, information safety, and data confidentiality.

For state agencies, when connected to the electronic identification system, it will ensure quick, convenient, economical, effective, and accurate authentication of citizen information and integrated identification documents. This helps reduce human resources, save time, and reduce costs of storing and printing documents compared to before. In particular, agencies and organizations can perform online administrative procedures for people to ensure accuracy, speed, and efficiency, limiting the need for people to travel many times.

Lieutenant Colonel Ha Van Tan, Head of the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, Bac Kan Provincial Police, said: The development of electronic identification accounts is one of the important requirements in the progress of implementing Project 06 of the Public Security sector. Currently, the Public Security force from the province to the grassroots level is actively implementing many synchronous solutions, propagating, guiding, and supporting people to register for electronic identification accounts.

As of June 26, 2023, Bac Kan province had 99,435 level 1 and level 2 activated accounts and ranked 9th nationwide in terms of electronic identification account activation rate./.
