With the slogan "Cinema: Creativity - Take Off", the event will take place from November 7-11, 2024, promising to bring a series of diverse and colorful cinema activities.
According to Director of the Cinema Department Vi Kien Thanh, HANIFF VII has attracted more than 500 works from 40 countries and territories to register to participate. Notably, 107 films have passed the preliminary round, including 11 feature films participating in the official competition, 10 international short films, and 10 Vietnamese short films participating in the competition categories. These are typical works, representing creative cinema in the world.
This year, German cinema will be the highlight of HANIFF VII, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany. A special program with 7 German films and a seminar "Spotlight on German Cinema" will share valuable experiences on how to exploit humanistic, social and creative topics.
In addition, the workshop "Developing film production exploiting historical themes and adapting literary works" will also provide insight into the approach and exploitation of history and literature in the art of cinema, with the participation of domestic and foreign filmmakers and experts.
Also at the Film Festival, the Film Project Market, an important highlight at HANIFF VII, continues to be an attractive playground for young filmmakers. This is an opportunity for them to connect with investors, build and develop quality projects, thereby contributing to promoting Vietnamese cinema to reach further.
In addition to the screenings at the National Cinema Center and the CGV and BHD cinema systems, HANIFF VII will bring exciting interactive events such as outdoor Cineshows in the walking street. This is an opportunity for audiences to meet and interact with film crews and artists, while enjoying cinematic works in a vibrant open space.
The exhibition “Vietnam’s UNESCO-recognized heritages – Experience through cinematic footage” is also another highlight, bringing interesting experiences to visitors and international artists.
With the participation of 300 international delegates including artists, directors and filmmakers, HANIFF VII promises to be a large-scale event, creating conditions for exchange and cooperation between international and Vietnamese filmmakers.
Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong emphasized that this event not only introduces and honors excellent works but is also an opportunity to discover and nurture new talents in the field of cinema.
In just over a month, HANIFF VII will officially open, marking a highly anticipated film event in 2024, contributing to promoting Vietnamese culture, art and history to international friends.
