(Fatherland) - On the evening of November 11, at Ho Guom Theater (Hanoi), the Closing Ceremony and Award Ceremony of the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF VII) 2024 took place.
Attending the closing ceremony were: Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong, Head of the Steering Committee of the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival and the participation of many delegates, artists who are domestic and international directors and actors.
The 7th Hanoi International Film Festival is directed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee; chaired by the Department of Cinema, in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, and related agencies and units. This is a practical activity to celebrate the country's major holidays in 2024 and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital.
With the slogan "Cinema: Creativity - Take Off", the Film Festival is a cultural and artistic event honoring cinematic works of high artistic value, rich in humanity, with outstanding and unique creative marks of international and Vietnamese cinema. The event also aims to discover and honor new talents of cinema; introduce outstanding works of world cinema and connect, exchange and cooperate for mutual development, creating opportunities to expand the Vietnamese cinema market, integrating into the international cinema market.
Speaking at the Closing Ceremony, Mr. Vi Kien Thanh, Director of the Department of Cinema, Head of the Film Festival Organizing Committee said: After 5 days of organization, from November 7-11, 2024, with many film programs, many exciting and attractive activities, the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival has left a strong impression on international and Vietnamese film artists, creating a warm artistic atmosphere for the capital's audience and a desire for creativity for Vietnamese and international film artists.
With the theme "Cinema: Creativity - Take Off", the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival affirms its prestige and is a symbol of the creative and integrated spirit of Vietnamese cinema and 51 cinemas in the world, with an increasingly professional scale and organization, while creating a unique mark of a Film Festival held in the thousand-year-old capital of Hanoi.
The Director of the Department of Cinema said: The Film Festival is a solemn film event with 800 Vietnamese and international delegates attending; 117 films from 51 countries and territories were screened at 3 cinema complexes: National Cinema Center, BHD, CGV. In-depth professional activities such as two seminars "Spotlight on German cinema", seminar "Development of film production exploiting historical themes and adapted from literary works" and the exhibition "Vietnam's heritages recognized by UNESCO - experienced through cinema footage", Film Production Project Market and exchange sessions between artists of the film crew and the audience before or after the screening at the cinemas have created a vibrant, colorful atmosphere, attracting a large audience of Hanoi and international tourists, contributing to the exchange and learning between Vietnamese and international filmmakers, promoting the development of tourism in the capital Hanoi and Vietnam.
"The Film Festival Organizing Committee is deeply aware of the host country's responsibility in welcoming international delegations, ensuring the event takes place safely, professionally, and inspiringly," said Mr. Vi Kien Thanh.
At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 10 awards to outstanding films, actors and directors.
Specifically, the Best Feature Film Award was given to the Iranian film "Hard Shell". This film also brought Iranian cinema the Best Feature Film Director Award (awarded to director Majid-Reza Mostafavi) and the Best Feature Film Actor Award (actor Payman Maadi).
The Best Short Film award went to Colombia's "A Bird Flew."
Best Actress in a Feature Film went to Tiina Tauraite for her role in Estonia's "8 Views of Lake Biwa."
The Jury Prize for Feature Film went to the Estonian film "8 Views of Lake Biwa".
The award for Best Short Film Director went to director Nasim Forough for his Iranian film "Typesetter."
The Promising Young Actor Award (18 to 35 years old) was given to actress Ngoc Xuan, for the Vietnamese film "Once Upon a Love Story".
The Jury Prize for Short Film went to the Cambodian film "The Rubber Tappers".
The Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet) Award for Feature Film went to the Russian film "Liar".
The Hanoi People's Committee awarded 4 Certificates of Merit to directors and screenwriters of films about Hanoi, who contributed to the socio-economic development of the capital, participated in and responded to the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival, including: People's Artist Viet Huong (Le Thi Bang Huong), director of the film "Ngan nam senh phach" produced by Sao Khue Film Studio; Meritorious Artist Phi Tien Son, director of the film "Dao, pho and piano" produced by Feature Film Joint Stock Company I; Meritorious Artist Nguyen Duc Viet, director of the film "Hong Ha nu si" produced by Nam Phuong Media Company; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Ngát, screenwriter of the film "Hong Ha nu si" produced by Nam Phuong Media Company.
In addition, the Organizing Committee awarded the Vietnamese Film Award to the audience in the "Contemporary Vietnamese Film Program" at the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival to the film "Our Blossom" - a cooperation film between Vietnam and Hungary.
The first prize in the Film Project Market category was awarded to the project "Red lights blue angels" by director Afsana Mimi (Bangladesh). The Jury Prize of the Film Project Market was awarded to the project "Rahma" by director Faysal Soysal (Turkey)./.
