This is the 19th year this activity has been organized by the Vietnam Science and Technology Journalists Club.
The fields voted include: Policy mechanisms; applied science and technology; social sciences and humanities; honoring scientists.
Specifically, the first typical scientific and technological event was the agreement on the policy of restarting the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project. On November 25, 2009, the 12th National Assembly passed Resolution No. 41/2009/QH12 on approving the investment policy of the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project, including plants 1 and 2, with a total capacity of 4,000 MW.
Second, the Government issued the Strategy for developing Vietnam's semiconductor industry to 2030 and vision to 2050.
The third event is to implement the policy of merging the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Information and Communications. The merger of the two ministries aims to optimize resources, avoid overlapping and duplication of tasks, synchronize policies, and facilitate the development of science, technology and digital transformation.
The fourth event is the announcement of the Local Innovation Index. The index aims to provide a realistic, comprehensive picture of the current status of the socio-economic development model based on science, technology and innovation of each locality.
Thursday is the event where the Institute of Geophysics masters earthquake monitoring and reporting technology.
Friday is the event of Viettel operating the largest data center in Vietnam with a capacity of 30MW. This is the first data center in Vietnam designed with high capacity, twice the average level, to meet the development trend of AI with the requirement of high-performance chips, increasing computing capacity.
The 7th featured event is Techfest 2024 and 10 years of developing Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem. This event takes place in Hai Phong City from November 26-28, 2024 with the theme "Joining hands to develop Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem". In 2024, Vietnam's Global Startup Ecosystem Index increased two places from 58th to 56th (ranked 5th in Southeast Asia and 12th in Asia - Pacific).
The 8th event is FPT's construction of an Artificial Intelligence Center worth more than 4,300 billion VND. The AI Center is identified as a place for research, training, software production, digital transformation support, providing network security solutions, social security, AI serving people, improving productivity, quality, and service value.
The ninth event was the discovery of an 8,000-year-old prehistoric settlement in Bac Kan. Associate Professor, Dr. Trinh Nang Chung (Vietnam Archaeological Association) assessed that the discoveries have great historical, cultural and scientific value, contributing to enriching the awareness of prehistoric culture in Bac Kan in particular and in Vietnam in general.
The 10th event was the event where Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Chi Thiem (45 years old, currently working at the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Research Institute and Korea University of Science and Technology) won the 2024 World Young Astronomer Lecture Award presented by Central University in Taiwan. He is the first Vietnamese person and the 4th person working in Asia to win this award.
