Kinhtedothi - Tan Son Nhat Airport continued to "stretch" to welcome more than 150,000 arrivals and departures on February 2 (the 5th day of Tet), this is a record high number of passengers during this Tet holiday.
From early morning on February 2, the atmosphere at Tan Son Nhat airport began to be crowded with a large number of passengers from all over the world pouring into Ho Chi Minh City.
The domestic terminal at Tan Son Nhat airport is relatively busy. However, the number of passengers checking in for flights to other provinces is not as crowded as before Tet.
In front of the airline check-in counter, security screening area, and inside the boarding area, there are still long lines of passengers, but they are not overloaded or congested.
In contrast, on the way to the domestic terminal, the number of passengers arriving was huge. The conveyor belts were packed with people waiting to get their checked baggage.
Ms. Minh Ha (living in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City) just had a flight from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City and was worried because of her cumbersome luggage and the long wait for a taxi at the airport during the peak day after Tet.
Mr. Duc Nam (35 years old) landed at Tan Son Nhat airport after a flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. He assessed the flight as smooth, but the process of getting checked baggage at Tan Son Nhat airport was quite difficult: "Today, too many people returned to Ho Chi Minh City. After the Tet holiday, the airport was very crowded. Waiting to get baggage also took more than 1 hour" - Mr. Duc Nam said.
Similarly, Ms. Hong Nga (living in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City) also expressed her frustration when landing at Tan Son Nhat Airport. The most annoying thing is the baggage claim and the always "hot" traffic situation here.
Meanwhile, drivers are complaining about the difficulty of picking up passengers at Tan Son Nhat airport these days: "Customers are worried about having difficulty booking a car, so they open the booking app while waiting to pick up their luggage. When the driver arrives, the passenger is still in the terminal. Unfortunately, even after waiting for a long time, they don't dare cancel the trip because it affects the activity rate and can easily lead to account lockout," a driver shared.
A representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that on the 5th day of Tet, Tan Son Nhat Airport welcomed more than 150,000 passengers with 979 flights. Of which, 488 were departure flights, with more than 57,000 passengers; 491 were arrival flights, with more than 93,300 passengers to Ho Chi Minh City.
Thus, today, Tan Son Nhat Airport has set a new record for the number of passengers traveling during the Lunar New Year 2025 (the number of passengers is slightly higher than on December 24, the peak of the period before Tet).
To best serve the people, Tan Son Nhat airport has planned to mobilize taxis, technology cars and buses for people to go out.
At the same time, to quickly clear landing passengers, Tan Son Nhat airport has increased staff and optimized check-in procedures.
In addition, airport security staff are also coordinated to support passengers in the terminal and parking areas. Tan Son Nhat Airport also encourages passengers to book technology cars or use public transport in advance to avoid long waiting times, carefully check flight information, landing times and choose a reasonable travel time to avoid congestion.
