Recently, in provinces and cities, especially big cities, the situation of pedestrians crossing the street illegally or walking on the road has been increasing, especially at roads with intersections, crossroads, three-way intersections... thereby posing many potential risks of accidents for traffic participants.
Maybe you don't know, just like drivers of other vehicles participating in traffic, pedestrians who do not walk in the correct lane, cross the median strip... are all punished by traffic police.

Specifically, pedestrians who violate traffic rules or cross the street incorrectly will be fined from 60,000 to 100,000 VND.
Pursuant to Clause 1, Article 9 of Decree No. 100/2019/ND-CP dated December 30, 2019, stipulating administrative sanctions for violations in the field of road and railway traffic as follows:
Article 9. Penalties for pedestrians violating road traffic rules
Specifically, a fine of 60,000 VND to 100,000 VND will be imposed on pedestrians who commit one of the following violations:
- Not driving on the correct part of the road; crossing the median strip; crossing the road in an incorrect place or without ensuring safety;
- Failure to comply with the commands or instructions of traffic lights, signs, or road markings, except for violations specified in Clause 2 of this Article;
- Failure to comply with the orders or instructions of traffic controllers or traffic inspectors;
- Carrying bulky objects that obstruct traffic;
- Hang on to moving vehicles.
In Clause 2, Article 9 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, it is stipulated that if a pedestrian is not a person serving the management and maintenance of the highway but walks on the highway, the highest fine for this act will be 200,000 VND.
Penalties for pedestrians have been stipulated in the law for a long time. In particular, the law has clearly stipulated the pedestrian lanes as well as the penalties. Accordingly, each citizen needs to be aware of compliance to ensure traffic safety for themselves and for everyone around them when participating in traffic.
Traffic safety comes from everyone's awareness. However, it is still necessary to build traffic culture from school.
Education, knowledge development and skills development for safe traffic participation, raising awareness of compliance with traffic safety laws as a “preparation” to protect students’ safety in daily life is extremely necessary. Just a small mistake in traffic participation can lead to unpredictable consequences.
During school hours, it is not difficult to see students wearing their uniforms, calmly participating in traffic on large-displacement motorbikes. Many students do not even wear helmets, run red lights, and weave in and out of traffic. Although the authorities have tried to handle the situation, the violations only subside for a while and then recur again.
Therefore, in order to help students raise their awareness of ensuring traffic safety, and at the same time build a traffic culture from school, recently, many units and schools in the city have been promoting propaganda and educating students on the awareness of obeying traffic safety laws. Through many different forms, there are currently many good and effective propaganda models being deployed, thereby gradually raising students' awareness of obeying traffic safety laws.
