The working group was launched as a step to implement the consensus reached between the two heads of state at the San Francisco summit and to strengthen cooperation between China and the United States in responding to climate change.
According to the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the two sides highly appreciated the successful start of the working group, and conducted in-depth and friendly exchanges on important areas of cooperation such as energy transition, methane, circular economy and low-carbon provinces, states and cities.
The two sides agreed to continue to maintain close communication, exchange and learn from each other and enhance substantive cooperation under the working group mechanism in accordance with the consensus stated in the Sunnylands Declaration on enhancing cooperation to address the climate crisis.
