The "Commemorative Market" at Tram Hum Mot Cai Coffee Shop (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) opened and attracted many young people to come and exchange souvenirs. Each item brought and left by the owner has its own story attached, suddenly becoming a bridge connecting many strange customers together.
Send all your unfinished dreams to Tram Hug a hug
From Tien Giang province, Ms. Thu Huong sent a bundle of hand-picked fabrics to the "anniversary fair" along with a message. The fabric was still very new, but Ms. Huong said that when it was given to someone else, she would have given up her passion for becoming a fashion designer.
"My family is so poor, my mother and younger brother are both sick so I have to put my passion aside to make a living and take care of my family. I leave you my dream, I hope you wear it beautifully", Ms. Thu Huong's message made many readers quite emotional.
Yen Vy left behind some nail polish bottles along with a very thoughtful message for women: "Girls should love themselves." On the piece of paper placed next to the gift, Yen Vy said she had been so caught up in work that she forgot to take time to take care of herself.
Yen Vy confided in the paper that there are days when she only has 30 minutes to eat and take care of her personal hygiene. Although she knows she is treating herself badly and hopes to change this, she is currently stuck in a cycle of work that is hard to quit.
"I haven't had a chance to use these nail polishes yet. Please use them to make yourself more beautiful. Be radiant for me!", Vy wrote.
Talk to strangers
Communicating mostly on social networks has become a habit of most young people today. That is also the reason why Nguyen Viet Hoang and two co-founders of Tram Hum Mot Cai restaurant organized the "anniversary fair" with the hope that you will connect and interact with each other more in real life.
"Exchanging souvenirs is just an excuse for people to make new friends, to share and encourage each other to live more positively," said Viet Hoang.
The people who created this model were initially afraid of being single, but they did not expect so many people to know and respond to it. It turns out that in the hustle and bustle of modern life, young people have so many worries that they don't know who to talk to, so they can only confide in strangers.
Coincidentally, in the middle of the space of the shop, we met a couple of "strangers" who had just gotten to know each other through exchanging souvenirs. Mr. Manh Duc (23 years old, from District 4) exchanged the thermometer for the sunglasses that had accompanied Ms. Nhu Nguyen (27 years old, from Binh Tan District) through the days of being ridiculed about her appearance.
Ms. Nhu Nguyen said that through the story shared together, she really admired Manh Duc's courage in daring to live true to his dream.
"I find this activity interesting. Thanks to the information attached to the item, many people have had the opportunity to contact and chat with each other. Sometimes chatting with people who don't know much about you is also an interesting experience," Ms. Nguyen laughed.
Cao Thi Xuan Quynh said she also brought items here to exchange. Receiving items from others, she said she would clean them thoroughly when she brought them home so she could use them with peace of mind. According to Quynh, this is a good idea, helping young people live less wastefully.
Quynh said she didn't care too much about the price difference between those items, but the main thing was the story in each attached letter and finding common ground when exchanging and reading those stories.
