'Saigon Night' brings home travel photo award to 9X guy

That is the sharing of Mr. Nguyen Dang Viet Cuong - the author of the first prize winning photo in the 2022 tourism promotion photo contest with the theme "Shining Vietnam - Amazing Vietnam".

The photo " Saigon Night " was taken on National Day, September 2, 2022, when Mr. Cuong witnessed the resumption of cruise ships on the Saigon River. This is also the time when domestic and foreign tourists come to Ho Chi Minh City more after the COVID-19 pandemic with tourism activities, especially river tourism.

"I saw that the cruise ships running on the river were very beautiful, so I immediately thought of using the cruise ship as the foreground and the high-rise buildings in District 1 as the background.

The 2022 tourism promotion photo contest with the theme "Shining Vietnam - Amazing Vietnam " organized by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism was launched from December 21, 2022 to June 5, 2023. After nearly 6 months of launching, more than 13,000 photos from more than 1,000 authors were sent to participate in the contest.

The works vividly depict the beauty of the country, life and people of Vietnam through the lens of tourism. These are images of tourists exploring, experiencing tourism products and services, and immersing themselves in the lives of local people at tourist destinations.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh - Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Chairman of the contest's jury - affirmed that most of the entries are of good quality, closely following the theme of tourism with many rich and diverse topics, many new perspectives, rich in creativity and artistry.

This will be the basis for forming a photo data system to serve the promotion and advertising of Vietnam's tourism industry.

The organizing committee selected 11 outstanding works to win prizes, including: 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 5 consolation prizes. In addition, 1 work with the most likes and 1 work with the most shares were awarded.

The winning works and 175 best photos have been selected to be displayed in the exhibition "Amazing Vietnam" at the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Arts, 2 Hoa Lu, Hanoi. The exhibition will run from now until August 31.
