Tonight, August 2nd to the night of August 3rd, Son La province will have moderate rain, some places will have heavy rain to very heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall ranging from 20-50mm/24h, some places over 80mm/24h. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Especially in the districts of Quynh Nhai, Thuan Chau, and Muong La.
Warnings in thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, break trees, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure. At the same time, there is a possibility of causing flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas, people are advised to be vigilant and take precautions.
To proactively respond and minimize damage caused by heavy rain and the risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has directed the Steering Committees for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of districts and cities to closely monitor developments of heavy rain, flooding, flash floods, and landslides, and provide timely and complete information to authorities at all levels and people to proactively prevent, respond, and minimize damage.
Deploy shock forces to inspect and review residential areas along rivers, streams, and low-lying areas to proactively organize the relocation and evacuation of people in areas at high risk of deep flooding, flash floods, and landslides.
Organize forces to control and guide traffic, put up warning signs, especially at culverts, spillways, deep flooded areas, and fast-flowing water; proactively arrange forces, materials, and means to overcome incidents, ensuring smooth traffic on main traffic routes when heavy rain occurs.
Implement measures to drain water, protect production, and prevent flooding in urban areas and industrial zones. Inspect, review, and implement plans to operate and ensure the safety of reservoirs and downstream areas, especially small hydropower reservoirs and important irrigation reservoirs; arrange a permanent force to operate and regulate and be ready to handle possible situations.
