The Cao Bo - Mai Son Expressway (Ninh Binh) is 15.2 km long with a limited 4-lane scale, proposed to be expanded to 6 complete lanes, with an estimated cost of 2,076 billion VND.
Last week, the Ninh Binh Department of Transport proposed that the Ministry of Transport consider expanding the Cao Bo - Mai Son expressway on the North-South route.
The proposed expressway section is expanded by 15.75 m to 32.75 m wide, ensuring the construction of 6 lanes, an emergency lane on each side; at the same time, investing in adding one more unit for 4 overpasses on the route to reach a scale of 6 lanes including Cao Bo bridge, Cam bridge, National Highway 10 overpass, Quan Vinh bridge.
The total estimated cost of expanding the Cao Bo - Mai Son expressway is 2,076 billion VND. Since the site clearance has been carried out according to the plan, this cost will be used for construction and design.

The 15.2 km Cao Bo - Mai Son Expressway has been invested in and put into operation by the Ninh Binh Department of Transport since February 2022 with a limited 4-lane scale (no emergency lane) and site clearance according to the 6-lane planning. The road section connects the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway and Mai Son - National Highway 45 on the North-South Expressway.
After being put into operation, the route with a limited 4-lane scale often experiences congestion during peak periods and holidays. Therefore, the Department of Transport recommends that it should be invested in and expanded soon to meet the transportation and travel needs of the people, reducing congestion in the northern gateway area of the capital Hanoi.
