(NLDO) - Regarding the need to change land use purposes by 2030 in Ho Chi Minh City, the change of agricultural land use purpose is 27,827 hectares.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City has just reported the implementation results and proposed land use needs to serve the adjustment of the national land use planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
Ho Chi Minh City needs to change the purpose of agricultural land use of more than 28,500 hectares.
Regarding the current land use status, in 2020, the agricultural land area of Ho Chi Minh City was 111,874 hectares, in 2024 it was 109,893 hectares, a decrease of 1,981 hectares.
Meanwhile, non-agricultural land in 2020 had an area of 96,634 hectares, in 2024 it was 98,615 hectares, an increase of 1,981 hectares.
From 2020 to 2024, the unused land area of Ho Chi Minh City is 1,030 hectares.
According to Decision 326/2022 of the Prime Minister on the allocation of national land use planning targets for the 2021-2023 period and the 5-year land use plan for 2021-2025, the agricultural land target allocated until 2030 is 89,612 hectares, and the non-agricultural land target allocated until 2030 is 119,618 hectares.
Meanwhile, the land use target approved under Decision 1711 dated December 31, 2024 of the Prime Minister on approving the planning of Ho Chi Minh City for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, is 86,012 hectares of agricultural land and 129,907 hectares of non-agricultural land.
Through synthesis, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City reported and proposed adjusting land use needs of provinces and centrally-run cities for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
Accordingly, by 2030, Ho Chi Minh City will have 86,012 hectares of agricultural land, accounting for 39.78% of the total natural area.
Of which, rice-growing land is 3,500 hectares, accounting for 9.19% of the total natural area, mainly distributed in Cu Chi and Binh Chanh districts (of which 100% of the area is specialized rice-growing land).
Protective forest land is 34,087 hectares, accounting for 15.76% of the total natural area, remaining stable according to the allocation targets in Decision No. 227/QD-TTg dated March 12, 2024.
Special-use forest land is 209 ha, accounting for 0.1% of the total natural area. Production forest land is 792 ha, accounting for 0.37% of the total natural area.
By 2030, the non-agricultural land area of Ho Chi Minh City will be 129,907 hectares, accounting for 60.08% of the total natural area.
Of which, national defense land is 3,267 hectares, accounting for 1.51% of the total natural area. Security land is 616 hectares, accounting for 0.28% of the total natural area. Industrial park land is 8,369 hectares, accounting for 3.87% of the total natural area. Traffic construction land is 22,342 hectares, accounting for 10.33% of the natural area.
Unused land, by 2030, the whole city will have 309 hectares of unused land, accounting for 0.14% of the total natural area.
Regarding the need to change land use purposes by 2030 in Ho Chi Minh City, the change of agricultural land use purpose is 27,827 hectares; unused land put into use will change land use purpose of 720 hectares.
Based on the actual needs and forecasts of the socio-economic development situation of Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2026-2030, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment proposed that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment consider submitting to the Prime Minister for approval the adjustment of the allocation of planning targets and national land use plans for Ho Chi Minh City, ensuring consistency with the proposal in the Ho Chi Minh City planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
This is to ensure land funds for investment attraction, socio-economic development to meet the requirements of industrialization, modernization, and development of a synchronous infrastructure system in the locality.
