As a province with many spiritual tourist areas and attractions and major festivals held at the beginning of the New Year, this is an opportunity for Ha Nam tourism to achieve and exceed the goals set for the year.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in just 7 days of the Lunar New Year holiday (from December 29 to January 5 of the year of the Dragon), the whole Ha Nam province attracted over 370,000 tourists. Of these, about 5,000 were international visitors, the rest were domestic visitors. Tourism revenue was estimated at nearly 300 billion VND.
Mr. Le Thanh Son, Deputy Head of the Tourism Department, Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism said: Compared to previous years, this year, there are quite a lot of tourists coming to religious and spiritual establishments such as: Cay Thi Pagoda, Ninh Tao Pagoda, Lanh Giang Temple, Ba Danh Pagoda, Dia Tang Phi Lai Pagoda. In particular, Cay Thi Pagoda (Che Trinh Village, Thanh Tam Commune, Thanh Liem District) attracts 20,000 visitors a day to visit, worship and pray at the temple. This is an ancient pagoda, with a history of hundreds of years, recently restored, worshiped by local people for its profound spiritual values. This pagoda is not far from Dia Tang Phi Lai Pagoda, so tourists can visit both pagodas on the same convenient early spring tour. Therefore, along with Cay Thi Pagoda, Dia Tang Phi Lai Pagoda welcomes tens of thousands of visitors during Tet holidays. Compared to previous years, the number of visitors to Dia Tang Phi Lai is quite stable".
The beautiful weather in the first days of the new year created favorable conditions for the spring travel activities of the people and tourists from all over to Ha Nam to be more crowded than in previous years. Mr. Tran Van Hung, Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh province, came to visit some ancient pagodas in Ha Nam and was excited: “We have heard about these pagodas for a long time, saw the beautiful pictures in the press and on social platforms, so we organized a spring trip here. It is really beautiful! Although there are quite a lot of tourists coming to Dia Tang Phi Lai pagoda or Cay Thi pagoda, there are no scenes of overcharging, buying and selling or collecting fees like in many other places. All activities are very natural and civilized. We can understand why these are such attractive places for tourists!”
Visiting Lanh Giang Temple, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Nguyet, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi City said: “My family comes here every year, but this year the temple grounds are more spacious and completed. After the temple ceremony, we can go to the outside area to visit the newly built buildings, enjoy the spring scenery to relax. It is truly beautiful and peaceful!”
This year, the Tran Thuong Temple's Salary Distribution Ceremony also opened early, so the number of visitors to the temple in the first days of Spring was higher. In addition, the early Spring festivals in Ha Nam always attract tourists, such as the Doi Son Tich Dien Festival and the Lieu Doi Wrestling Festival. A Chinese female tourist named Tran Long Khiet who visited Ha Nam during the Tet holidays shared: “I was introduced to stay at the house of a cadre in Doi Tam village, Tien Son commune, Duy Tien town to wait to watch the Tich Dien Festival. It was a joy to immerse myself in the festival preparation atmosphere of the people here. The most impressive thing was watching people make sticky rice cakes to offer to the Doi Tam drum ancestor and to commemorate King Le Dai Hanh. Then, for the first time, I saw the buffalo decoration painting contest, the plowing contest, the wrestling contest and watched folk games. This is the largest going-to-the-field festival in the Northern Delta of Vietnam in early Spring, it converges very unique, impressive and memorable cultural identities!”
According to Mr. Le Thanh Son, this year Ha Nam aims to attract over 4 million tourists, the beginning of spring is an opportunity for the tourism industry to break through and accelerate more than any other time of the year. Because in 2023, Ha Nam was honored by the World Tourism Awards as "The World's Leading Local Cultural Destination", many tourist attractions have become familiar and well-known such as: Tam Chuc Tourist Area, Dia Tang Phi Lai Pagoda, Lanh Giang Temple... Along with that, many major festivals held in January are opportunities for Ha Nam tourism to attract tourists, promoting service development".
