Over the years, the Dong Thap cycling department has maintained good training, especially the selection and training of talented athletes. Every year, the department organizes the selection of athletes aged 12-13 at secondary schools in the province. At the same time, it develops a professional training plan to gradually supplement the team. Up to now, the Dong Thap cycling department has a fairly strong talented and young force with 31 male and female athletes aged 14-20. According to the cycling department's coaching board, the training program for young athletes focuses on exercises on techniques, tactics, improving physical strength and maintaining flexibility during competition. To maintain their form and improve their professional level, young cyclists maintain 2 training sessions/day with a distance of about 70km and the distance can increase to over 100km when preparing to enter the competition...
Thanks to the good work of selecting and training talented and young athletes, Dong Thap cycling always has a successor force that is highly appreciated by experts for its qualifications and promises to be a worthy successor for the seniors. Among them, many outstanding faces are members of the National Youth Cycling Team such as: Ngoc Lua, Be Hong, Ngoc Thao... From the beginning of 2023 until now, young athletes of the cycling department have shown remarkable progress in their expertise when competing and achieving many outstanding results. In June 2023, two racers Ngoc Thao and Be Hong made a miracle when they won 2 individual gold medals at the 2023 Asian Youth Road Cycling Championship hosted by Thailand.
At the 28th National Youth Road and Mountain Cycling Championship - 2023, which took place from August 5 to 13, the young cyclists of Dat Sen Hong continued to prove their superiority over their peers. At the end of the individual, men's and women's team competitions, the Dong Thap youth cycling team excellently won 17 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals, thereby ranking 1/14 teams participating in the tournament. Among them, the outstanding competitors who contributed greatly to Dong Thap's achievements were Be Hong, Ngoc Thao, Huynh Nhu, Ngoc My, Ngoc Ngan (female athletes) and Minh Man, Thanh Sang, Song Min, Van Khanh, Thuong Nguon, Hoang Loi (male athletes). With the tradition of training young people, up to now, the cycling department has a group of very young and talented athletes who are the core force towards the National Sports Festival in 2026. In particular, in the female athlete group, there are athletes Be Hong, Ngoc Thao, Minh Man (all 16 years old) and Ngoc Ngan (14 years old). "In addition to the achieved results, the cycling department is facing difficulties due to many regulations in purchasing specialized equipment for training and competition, which significantly affects the expertise and achievements.
