Must be "impartial, objective, scientific, put the interests of the nation, the Party, and the people above all else" - The message in the important speech "Some issues that need special attention in the personnel preparation work for the 14th National Party Congress" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the first meeting of the Personnel Subcommittee of the 14th National Party Congress recently attracted the attention and agreement of a large number of cadres, party members, and people of all walks of life nationwide.

It is not for nothing that public opinion is concerned about the personnel matters of the 14th Congress. This important event is two years away, but the challenges facing the Party far outweigh the advantages.

There is a risk of falling further behind economically, high inflationary pressure, and a decline in production and business activities in some places. The number of businesses withdrawing from the market is increasing, many businesses have to reduce staff, reduce working hours, and lay off workers. The lives of workers are therefore facing many difficulties.

In that context, the world and regional situation has undergone rapid, complex and unpredictable developments. The 14th Congress was held at a time when our country had undergone 40 years of implementing the socialist-oriented Renovation process.

This is also the time of generational transition from the generation of cadres born, raised, trained and matured during the years of resistance, mainly trained domestically and in former socialist countries, to the generation of cadres born, raised and matured in peace and trained from many sources and many countries with different political regimes.

Therefore, the matter of who our Party plans to select and arrange for its leadership team - especially key leaders who are capable of shouldering great tasks - receives deep and legitimate attention from the entire Party and people.

Public opinion especially agrees with the General Secretary's statement: "The personnel work of the Congress is extremely important but also extremely complicated, difficult, and heavy, requiring the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the entire political system to work with a very high sense of responsibility, with great determination and effort, in a truly fair, objective, and scientific way of doing things, putting the interests of the nation, the Party, and the people above all else."

Commenting on this, Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children, shared: Throughout his life and revolutionary career, President Ho Chi Minh always "put the interests of the nation and people first and foremost."

This viewpoint is the supreme principle in the process of revolutionary leadership, and is one of the reasons leading to the success of the Vietnamese revolution.

His "putting national interests first and foremost" was not only the goal and action of fighting for national liberation and protecting national independence and unity, but also aimed at the interests of the people.

Patriotism cannot be general or abstract. Patriotism is loving the people, bringing independence, a prosperous life, freedom and happiness to the people.

Looking at this perspective in the current situation of personnel work, Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc affirmed: Obviously, along with difficulties and challenges are opportunities and fortunes. The country's position has never been as great as it is today. Vietnam is making friends with all countries. Countries and powers all want to have relations and upgrade their relations with Vietnam.

In the new situation and under those conditions, cadres need to have courage, wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly develop their capacity to serve the Fatherland and the people. Cadres must put the interests of the people, the interests of the collective, and the country above personal interests.

“The class is in the community, the class is in the people. The Party is in the people, the Party is of the people,” Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc affirmed.

Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc also agreed with the General Secretary’s frank analysis of the shortcomings and weaknesses of a number of cadres and the limitations and shortcomings in personnel work. Among them, there are people who always only consider benefits and benefits, forgetting “integrity and honor”.

“At a time when the country is facing great opportunities, but also facing a crisis, if we cannot resolve these many-year, many-term backlogs, it will be very difficult to realize our dream and aspiration for a strong country,” Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc confided.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong delivered a concluding speech at the meeting.

Having read the article "Some issues that need special attention in the personnel preparation for the 14th Party Congress," Colonel Nguyen Van Nien, former Director of the 12th Corps Pharmaceutical Enterprise (residing in Khuong Trung, Dong Da, Hanoi), said he was particularly impressed by the General Secretary's request to "put the interests of the nation, the Party, and the people first and foremost."

“In the 60s, there was a slogan posted everywhere: Fatherland above all. Here it means that cadres and party members must put the Fatherland above all, must put the Party above all. One cannot put one's own interests above all,” Colonel Nguyen Van Nien expressed, but also frankly said, “It is easy to say but not easy to do, one must be very fair, must listen carefully to the opinions of the people, the opinions of those around them.”

Colonel Nguyen Van Nien also expressed that he often wondered why Uncle Ho and the Communist Party of Vietnam were able to gather the most elite people into the system, attracting the entire nation to participate in the great revolutionary cause?

That is because the highest purpose and goal of the Party is the interests of the people. And practice since the founding of the country has shown that when there is consensus, even a small nation can become great. The victory of the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism is a clear proof that the Party's correct line, trusted by the people, has led to complete and great victory.

“To succeed on the path that Uncle Ho, the Party and the nation have chosen, the upcoming personnel work is extremely important. Only when there is a good team of cadres can there be more suitable and better policies for the country to develop without losing cadres. Only then can we solve strategic tasks, promptly, correctly and effectively handle complex situations related to the cause of building, developing and protecting the country, and the survival of the regime,” Mr. Nguyen Van Nien expressed.
