Young Party members pioneer economic development

Young Party member Dao A Duong, Muong Bo 2 village, graduated from Lao Cai College. Unlike his classmates, Mr. Duong saw the potential for livestock development in Muong Bo land, so he decided to return to his hometown to do farming. After researching the market and local climate conditions, he invested in raising 500 native black chickens. The first batch of chickens was favorable but not enough to supply the market. Due to the high demand from restaurants in Sa Pa, Mr. Duong expanded the scale of raising to several thousand chickens per batch. On average, the annual income from raising native black chickens reached more than 100 million VND. In 2024, Mr. Dao A Duong established the Muong Bo Agricultural and Tourism Cooperative with 10 members operating in many fields with the desire to bring stable income to members while supporting each other in capital and techniques for mutual development.

Mr. Dao A Duong said: The climate in Muong Bo is very favorable for raising black chickens, this is one of the most suitable and safest choices because of the stable consumption potential. To successfully raise black chickens, the most important thing is to choose the breed, and at the same time, pay attention to breed selection as well as disease prevention.

Both are young party members but own a dream billion-dollar orchid garden. Mr. Sung A Sa, Secretary of the Ta Phin Commune Youth Union, and Giang A Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Lung Khau Village Party Cell, Ta Phin Commune, have developed the economy from the local potential crops.

Mr. Sung A Sa shared: In 2017, when I was 23 years old, thanks to learning from the experiences of orchid growers, participating in a number of training courses organized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment), having knowledge and techniques, I boldly borrowed capital from the bank to invest in growing orchids. From a few experimental pots, Mr. Sa now owns a cymbidium garden with a scale of 600 pots. Each year, the cymbidium garden supplies the market with more than 100 pots, earning about 200 million VND.

The orchid garden of young party member Giang A Dung (born in 1999) with a scale of nearly 1,000 pots/year provides a stable source of income. Income from growing orchids has helped Mr. Dung build a spacious house and buy a car to transport orchids. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Dung and his wife are very young but always boldly strive to improve, not only financially stable, Mr. Dung is also exemplary in all activities and movements in the locality.

Mr. Sung A Sa and Giang A Dung both have the same story to share with young people, which is to know how to take advantage of the potential and advantages of the locality to develop the economy. In Ta Phin, there is still a lot of room for young people to start a business, so local youth can completely take control of the economy in their own hometown.

Sa Pa town currently has about 20 effective economic development models led by young party members. Typical examples include the orchid growing model in Suoi Thau hamlet, Ta Phin commune; cold-water fish farming in Suoi Thau Mong hamlet, Muong Bo commune; homestay service in Ta Van Day 2, Ta Van commune... Accompanying young party members, the party committee and local government encourage and create conditions for union members and youth to build economic models.

The town’s associations and unions are also a bridge to help young party members access capital to buy seeds, crops, and livestock; provide advice on economics, disease prevention, and find links to purchase products for the model, helping young party members more easily develop the economy. This is also a motivation for union members and young people to strive to overcome difficulties, rise up to become rich, and contribute their youth to build their homeland.

The pioneering role of young Sa Pa Party members in transforming the structure of crops and livestock is creating a ripple effect for local people to change their thinking and working methods, to be proactive and creative in economic development, and to join hands to fulfill the income criteria in building new rural areas. Promoting the role and responsibility of Party members in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and being pioneers and role models in economic development emulation movements has built trust for people to learn, follow, and contribute to building Sa Pa town more and more prosperous and beautiful.
