Coach works with police for the second time
Regarding the case of a taekwondo coach in Da Nang City being accused by parents of beating a student, at 1:00 p.m. on January 13, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Nguyen Van Kin said he was at the Khue Trung Ward Police Station (Cam Le District) to give a statement.
"I am currently taking a statement at the police station. This is the second time I have been to the police station to work with them. The first time I went to the police station was on the evening of January 9...", Mr. Kin told us over the phone while he was at the police station.

Also this afternoon (January 13), Thanh Nien reporters were present at Seung Ri Taekwondo Club (Ho Nguyen Trung Street, Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City) with Mr. Nguyen Van Kin as head coach and director. At the club, nearly 10 students were preparing to wrap Chung cakes to organize a Tet charity event for an orphanage in Da Nang City. "After school, we went to the club to help the teacher wrap Chung cakes for charity. Currently, teacher Kin is busy and is away... we will have a practice schedule this evening," said a female student.

In a related development, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. NTH (residing in Hoa Xuan Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City), said that on the morning of January 13, NTNM (13 years old, son of Mr. H.) still went to school as usual.
"Currently, the child's mental state is not stable after the family filed a complaint. Therefore, the family cannot speak directly to the press. The family is waiting for the results of the police investigation into the coach...", Mr. Hung informed.
According to NTH's parent, 24 hours after being beaten by the coach at the gym, the bruises on his son's body were still visible. "NTNM is 1.48 m tall and weighs 35 kg. He is very small... The family is currently very worried about his mental health," Mr. H. added.

Previously, the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation received a complaint from Mr. NTH, parent of student NTNM (13 years old), about his son being beaten by the coach while practicing at the SEUNG RI Taekwondo Club (Ho Nguyen Trung, Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City) with Mr. Nguyen Van Kin as head coach and director.
According to the complaint, on the evening of January 9, when he picked up his son and discovered that he had been beaten, Mr. NTH used his phone to take pictures of all the marks on his son's body and reported the serious violation of the child's body to the Da Nang city hotline. At the same time, Mr. NTH took his son to the Khue Trung ward police station to work. The Khue Trung ward police station instructed Mr. NTH to take his son to the hospital to check for injuries. After the examination, Mr. NTH took his son back to the Khue Trung ward police station to get a detailed statement from NTNM. In addition, Mr. NTH also provided the phone number of Coach Nguyen Van Kin at the request of the police, and the police invited Coach Nguyen Van Kin to work on the evening of January 9.
Coach wants to meet parents
On the morning of January 13, before working with the police, Coach Nguyen Van Kin posted an invitation letter on social media with the following content: “Dear parents and students. First of all, on behalf of Seung Ri Taekwondo Center, I would like to thank all of you for your trust, support and encouragement to the center in the past time.
Currently, with more than 200 students regularly attending 3 facilities, it is one of the factors that helps affirm the prestige as well as the quality of teaching of the center throughout the process of formation and development. Currently, the center is facing problems that are spread on information channels with incomplete content and perspectives and there is no conclusion from the authorities.
Students are busy preparing banh chung for the Lunar New Year charity program.
In order to provide the most objective and sincere view of the ongoing incident, the center would like to invite all parents and students to attend the talk and share about the above incident. Time: 6:00 p.m. on January 13. Location: 151/1 Ho Nguyen Trung (gym room 1). Content: Clearly present the center's viewpoint and direction in handling the incident. Answer questions and listen to comments from parents and students.
