On December 14, the Ninh Binh Provincial Association of the Blind held its 7th Congress of Delegates for the 2023-2028 term.
Attending the Congress were leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Blind Association; representatives of a number of provincial departments, branches and sectors; leaders of the Blind Associations of several provinces: Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam and more than 100 outstanding members representing over 1,400 members of the Blind Associations at all levels in the province.
The Provincial Blind Association currently has 1,467 members, operating in 129 branches in 8 districts and cities. Implementing the Resolution of the 6th Term Congress (2018 - 2023), the Provincial Blind Association has completed the planned targets, including exceeding targets such as: recruiting members and establishing more branches; caring for the material and spiritual life of the blind; opening literacy and vocational training classes...
In particular, with the loan capital to solve employment from the National Fund, more jobs have been created, increasing income for members, 100% of members have no outstanding capital and overdue debt. The Association's production facilities are increasingly consolidated and developed, especially massage and acupressure services, contributing to increasing income and improving the lives of members. In addition, the Association has also mobilized funding sources, donations and mobilization to help the blind reduce difficulties.
From 2018 to present, the Association has called for support to repair and build 27 new houses for members with a total amount of over 1.4 billion VND; more than 6,300 members have received emergency subsidies in times of difficulty, natural disasters, floods, Tet holidays, COVID-19 pandemic... with a total amount of over 2.7 billion VND and many other gifts. Thanks to that, it has contributed to reducing the poverty rate of the Association from 8.02% in 2018 to below 5% by the end of 2023 (according to the new poverty standard), the position of the Association has been enhanced, truly becoming a solid support for members.
At the Congress, many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the Association's work for the 2018-2023 term received Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee and Commemorative Medals from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Blind Association; and Certificates of Merit from the Provincial Blind Association.
The Congress elected and introduced the 7th Executive Committee of the Association for the 2023-2028 term, consisting of 12 members. Mr. Pham Van Giang was elected as Chairman of the Provincial Association for the Blind.
