From February 12 to 15 (ie from January 15 to 18, At Ty year), in Hai Phong city, the Tu Luong Xam Traditional Festival 2025 will take place, to commemorate the 1087th anniversary of Bach Dang Victory, the 1081st anniversary of King Ngo Quyen's death and to receive the Certificate of National Special Monument ranking for the Tu Luong Xam Relic Complex, the headquarters of King Ngo Quyen in 938.
Tu Luong Xam Festival takes place mainly for 3 days from January 16 to 18 every year.
According to historical records, in the 10th century, the land was reclaimed by people, but was still dense with lakes, lagoons, tidal creeks and was often affected by the stages of sea advance and sea retreat with the rugged terrain of the Bach Dang estuary.
In 938, upon hearing that the Southern Han army led by King Hong Thao was aggressively invading our country, Ngo Quyen quickly built up his forces, recruited soldiers, and chose the land of Luong Xam as his headquarters to command the battle.
From here, the forces commanded by King Ngo Quyen won a great victory on the historic Bach Dang River, sinking all the warships of the Southern Han invaders, opening a long-lasting era of independence for our nation.
After King Ngo Quyen passed away, the people of Luong Xam village (now Nam Hai ward, Hai An district, Hai Phong city) built a temple to worship the founder of the country and honored King Ngo Quyen as the tutelary god, the god of the Bach Dang estuary.
