Coming to Da Lat, I almost didn't plan in advance, just booked a hotel online, traveled by car or plane, and was quickly able to leisurely drink coffee at Thuy Ta, admiring the view of Xuan Huong Lake.
Walk for about 15 minutes to reach Hoa Binh area with a row of coffee shops and snack shops. When the evening turns cold, both locals and tourists flock to the soy milk and mung bean milk shops with a pair of choux pastry cakes with a soft, sweet cream layer.
Da Lat always makes people soften their hearts before the clouds and wind. Once, because of a clip about a valley of clouds, just by lifting the curtains, the early morning clouds seemed to rush in, I booked a room at a homestay quite far from the center. When we arrived, we rented a motorbike, and my companion and I "adventured" around the village. When we passed by a green-painted wooden house, we stopped for a long time just to admire the tiny white flowers like snowflakes blooming in the small garden in front of the house.
Seeing that we were hesitant to come in and take pictures, the gardener invited us: “Just push the door open and come in.” She also enthusiastically advised us on good restaurants in the area. The next time I went to Da Lat, I made an appointment to meet my local friend. She took me to the local breakfast and coffee area. Although the shops were crowded, they were not noisy, and the owners and customers chatted happily.
My friend also suggested that I buy roasted pork at a famous restaurant nearby. While waiting for my turn to pack my food, I asked where to buy rice vermicelli and bread to eat with the roasted pork, and the owner smiled and introduced me to the next store. My friend explained: That's how Da Lat people are, they always live in harmony and leave opportunities for their neighbors. They also never open the same dishes to compete. I was surprised! It's true that Da Lat is familiar, but the more you get to know it, the more interesting it becomes...!
